I have never been to the track but plan on going this year, yes, I'm a track virgin.

I am getting ready to relocate my battery to the trunk but I'm wondering if I should go through with the mod. I was just planning on doing the battery relocation without the kill switch in the back. If I did this would I still be NHRA legal or would I be turned away at the track?

The other reason for the battery relocation is because I have an after market intercooler tank that I would also be installing to help get the temps cooler. Just so you know, I plan on going to the track just a few times a year.

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks

If you relocate the battery, then you also have to install the master cutoff switch per the NHRA rules. Be prepared if you start this project, as it is a lot more work than you think it will be.

If you are just going to the track for test and tune, you may be OK. (this is going to depend alot on the track). But if you run in any kind of event, you will have to have it. Also, you need a vent hose if you are running an enclosed battery box.

I have my battery relocated and mounted the switch on the bumper just above the license plate. I put a push/pull switch on the car.

It's really not as hard as you think. Remember to that you will need a alt cut off as well. This will make it so when you do turn the switch, all power is gone otherwise even with the switch turned off, the car will still run on the alternator.

I ran my on/off switch through my trunk key whole. Their is an older tech thread I made from couple years ago that shows pics on how we did it.
