...........is when you make that final car payment. Going to mean a decent amount of cash in my pocket every month.

Agreed as we paid off our Edge earlier this year and it is a great feeling! We plan to do everything possible to not have another payment as we are stashing the equivalent to the payment each month, so writing a check for the next car should be a piece cake.

Congrats mfergel! I will have a payment on mine for a few more years, but once I get it paid off, I'm sure I'll do the smart thing and trade it in on something newer, bigger, better, faster...with another payment. :headscratch:

It's been a long time since I paid off my '08. I spend a lot less per year on modifications and maint. than the payments were... on average. I'm hoping it lasts another 5 years as my main car and then I'll start scrounging for a nice used Shelby GT Cobra UndredUndredUndred or whatever they come out with. The 1000 hp SVT car from Ford coming out in a year or so.

Wait, you mean you're not going to do like 90% of Americans and immediately trade it in a another car and start another note? Just kidding man I paid my 07 off really early and will be keeping it for a long time. Congrats!

I am car payment free but I am currently working on a $20k motor so..... :nk:

And the new trailer, didn't have any payments on that one (paid cash, but saved for over a year)

When I was younger I was so impatient that I tended to throw things on credit so I could get XYZ now, instead of just waiting patiently and buying cash. Even relatively small stuff (like $1k or less). When it comes to cars--I certainly couldn't pay cash when I was younger anyway, just talking about other stuff.

A car payment isn't all bad either, especially if you are establishing credit and you have a good/low interest rate.

It is a good feeling. I have a while before mine is paid off, then I plan to keep it a while. My last car got paid off twice (a month after the original note was paid it went a collateral to pay for my wedding), and I still had it for >5 years all mine.

Side note: I can't stop laughing at your sig.

It has been a while since I haven't had a car payment. My wife likes switching vehicles every 2-3 years so we lease hers. We've made out pretty good so far on that just selling the car before the lease is up.

I believe we still owe a little under 20k on the truck. I plan on keeping it for a long time, though.

Man I've still got years on my truck payments lol.

Once I finish building my car though I'll start making double payments on the truck. That'll help.

Such a wonderful thread.
Last month I paid off the Nissan Rogue.

Eight days later when the title came, I signed it over to my ex.
LOL!
Part of the divorce agreement, had to pay it off and sign it over.
And I had just bought that LOADED sumbytch 5 months before I asked for the divorce.
No more ties to her now other than being friends.
