No offense guys but those grabber blue ones you can see alot of what looks like either dirt or texture in the paint if you can see that in the picture in person it would be even more relevant

Which set are you referring to? Bleedinblue posted a set he did himself and the other 2 sets were done by RC which is the person who did mine. One pic Bleedinblue posted looked like they were still wet before clear and buffing.

the bleedinblue ones. And again to each there own but in my opinion why put spray can painted parts on a 20 30 or 40k vehicle. Those pics were after they were done. I want to repeat this one more time before people start taking things out of wack as well guy says its stupid easy and cheap. If you want a legit show car finish the materials alone are not even cheap. Price a quart of dbc grabber blue yeah its expensive then price some good clear coat not the cheap clear that fails under any type of heat and has no uv protectants in it. If it was cheap it was def sub standard material and on a very nice car for me to see something like that it makes me wonder what else was cheaped on it. My guess is ultraklassic did a set and probably had similar results and trashed em for the reason that cheap wasnt good.

I hear you, I am not a painter by any means. I figured I would just waste money on materials and I wouldn't be happy with them and end up buying a set from someone that knew what they were doing eventually anyway. So that's why I hit up RC right after I seen his thread. And from what I seen so far in pics it looks like it was worth the money and saving myself the aggravation. I will know for sure soon.

I guess I'll cancel my appearance at the Detroit Auto Show then! I didn't sand the texture out of the covers before painting, sue me. They look good enough for me and most people, and I'm pretty sure the boss covers are textured like our stock gray covers.

The boss covers are not painted the are dyed blue. The plastic itself is blue. Im giving my opinion. If your happy your happy but to state that its stupid easy and cheap is def an understatement.

Very nice Job Muztangman.

Here are some of the ones I have done..about 30 sets to date, but about 24-25 that Im "proud" of since it's taken me awhile to refine the technique. The "texture" that is referred to is usually the "orange peel" in the clear coat, assuming the correct clear was used. It is evident in the pictures of the Race red ones, around the "jagged" side of the covers. These are very difficult to buff out without burning through the paint. The challenge comes in with laying the clear down, which I have to do in a non-sterile environment. The above post is a link to my FB page. Here are some more photos:

I do all the covers now with either a $300 paint gun, or in some rare instances spray cans that are especially made for a wide, even application. My clear is Dupont auto in 2-stage (activator)

The stock covers are textured, aren't they? That's the only reason I wasn't concerned about the texture...I would have been if the texture was from orange peel or contaminants.

They are, but if you use the right primer and technique, then sand them down , a lot of that goes away and the paint goes on really smooth.

Looks good! Definitely needs some white on the engine cover to tie it all together.

Why the hell do you still have your prop rod? Weight Savings bro! Ditch that thing

And this, Maybe a white cover with the center section in that red color with the black 32V TI-VCT letters

Haha only reason I kept the prop rod is just incase the shocks fail it's there if I need it. And since I don't drive it much in the winter I have a battery tender on it and it hangs from the hood striker so it's just not sitting in the engine bay. It doesn't weigh much and the shocks hold everything fine. But I have the hood prop up just as a safety measure if the shocks were to fail with the tender on it the hood wouldn't slam down and inadvertently short something or fuck something up.

And I was actually thinking about removing the top cover all together and see how it looks. I kind of like how the GT350 engine bay looked with out one on it.

The engine cover actually keeps everything nice and Tidy and can look really good if done the right way. There are places that sell just the inserts for the letters and bars in case you dont want to do any painting.

Looks great. The red lines really pop against the white of the car and black of motor

Also like that Strut Bar.

Thanks! I liked the Hotchkis strut brace because it bolts to all four studs on each side.
