A 22mm sway would be an upgrade to what years/model mustangs?

TIA.

I'm pretty sure that's the small one. 23mm and 24mm are the upgrades. But I think there's more to it. Somewhere there is a sway bar chart showing the sizes and years.

the whiteline stuff is really nice,

the rear sway bar also gets rid of the need for a sway bar relocation kit as well

we just did a full install on the boss

A 22mm bar in the rear is an upgrade for the 2005-2010 Mustangs.

Starting in 2011, Ford started to use 23mm and larger rear bars.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

I would suggest asking the manufacturer/vendor along with stating your current mods and intent of changing your sways. Sway bars are generally sold in pairs and a decrease in diameter may not always equal a "downgrade."

you are correct,

i know the Whiteline Front we just did on the boss, was 2mm smaller, however, it was 23lbs, vs the oem 14lbs, and that is the boss sway bar. plus 4 hole adjustable, and adj end links

we have the bmr stuff as well very good quality too, not sure how much of an upgrade over stock, maybe kelly can chime in,

I think he is just simply asking because there are a large number of companies, including us, who offer a 22mm bar.

Those bars were/are intended to be an upgrade for the rear of a 2005-2010 Mustang.

They can also be run on the newer 2011+, depending on strut, shock and springs...and driver preference.

Well, more specifically, sizing is a general poor measurement of performance; generally confused with bar rate. The reason I say that is because there are more and more vendors offering solid bars, which perform differently than hollow bars. Generally, you can get a stiffer bar rate with a smaller solid spring steel bar.

Correct, but you have to also take into account the style of bar, and it's similarities to a factory bar.

More specifically, a bar that is an exact copy (shape) of the stock bar, it's primary rate of increase will be from a thicker wall, and/or diameter. Again, the OP is probably asking about the common bars on the market which install like a factory bar, and are 22mm.

Another large impact on the stiffness, is going to be lever arm length. But again, assuming the OP is speaking about the common 22mm offerings, the lever arm lengths are all very similar, so the thickness (OD and ID) are the crucial factors.

If you take a stock bar in the rear and increase it from .788" to .875"....it becomes 52% stiffer. If you take the stock bar, keep it the same diameter, and decrease the lever arm length by 2", it becomes 56% stiffer.
