Sap has changed the color of my paint?

This isn't a Mustang, it's a 2012 Mazda5.

We went camping a week or so ago and there was a rain storm, causing sap to OBLITERATE my wife's car. It looked like we got stuck behind a maple syrup truck that was leaking.

Anyways, I didn't have time to clean it right away (we didn't realize how bad it was for a few days afterwards).

Just washed it and now on the roof of the car, it appears that the sap has "permanently" discolored underneath it.

What are my options?

If you click on the 100% button they'll come up full size. What's worse is that this is a Pearl finish. The dark spots are where the sap was.

All I've done so far was clean it with a bug/tar/sap spray from Turtle Wax, and I quickly tried Turtle Wax rubbing compound to no avail.

If you're impatient, use a medium cutting compound and buff that out. If that doesn't work, use a more intensive pad/compound combo.

Does the pearl make any difference here? I don't know much about it, I assume it's still under the clear but I really don't know.

Can try 2 things but wax it when done. Can get paint reducer from an auto body shop, its clear and is a solvent put some on a rag and lightly work only the discoloration. Second go to advance auto and buy Valvoline NON chlorinated brake cleaner and spray, let it sit for 10 seconds then wipe off and do that 2-3 times. That was only thing that got some super nasty sap off my old GTP and on my Wife's Torrent. Got it on our cars a few years ago and a clay bar wouldn't even take it off. That stuff did never damaged the paint or scratched it. Did it 3 years ago and Wife's Torrent's paint is still fine. I keep a can of Valvoline around as still gets light sap once in awhile on her car due to where she has to park and works fine.

OK, can anyone recommend a "decent" home owner quality buffer and the junk I need? I can't drop $500+ but a hundo or so I could afford.

Thanks for the tip on the reducer, but I'd kinda like a reason to buy a buffer anyways.. I guess I've wanted one for a while but could never justify it.

I use a griots garage DA it's a little stronger then the port cable. Here's a kit with a polisher and 5 pads. For products there is many to choose from
Hd cut/hd polish
M105/m205
Menzerna fg400 is a very good one stepper.

For last step you can go with a sealant, coating, or wax. Good sealant would be menzerna power lock or four star ultimate paint protection.

Reasonable priced waxes could be Pete's 53, chemical guys 50/50, p21s concours zymol carbon is a little more but still reasonable.

Wd didn't touch it nor did the non clorinated brake clean.

I got a couple better pictures of one of the spots I'll put up just as soon as I get off the shitter.

the linked buffer kit is more than I really wanted to spend, however I'll have the cash for it by the end of the week if that's the only recourse I have left. Like I said I'm sure I'll have a lot of uses for it once I just buy it.
