Summer 2021, like much of the country wasn’t enjoyable for people in North Idaho. Their lives were controlled by the pandemic and all the smoke from California, Oregon, Washington State and Montana fires. Idaho got into the act as well due to the extreme dry conditions contributing to local fires. Authorities evacuated Trestle Creek, near where Ed and Jane live. Knowing how fast a fire can move they decided to evacuate as well and stayed with their relatives in Sandpoint. After several days the evacuation was lifted, and people returned home.
Prior to the evacuation a number of friends were concerned about the safety of Ed & Jane’s convertible, offering to let them bring their car to be stored at their place. Ed finally agreed as the fires were spreading above them. The Mustang went to their friends in a nearby town who own a plane, thus a large hanger and numerous treeless acres. Jay is very funny and when he returned the car, he gave Ed the following photographs telling him the Pony could now be flown. Jay had positioned the car to look like it had wings attached when he took the photos.
Because of the pandemic no one invited them to stay with them; even so, people were concerned about the Mustang and got it to safety.
