Here is what I started with; a collection of eBay sourced parts:

That's a Shelby shock tower brace and some parts from an old rifle rack mount for a police car. I also got my hands on a new momentary switch and timer from eBay.

Here it is mocked up so I could get an idea of where I was going to have to drill to mount the lock parts.

I drilled out the mounting holes and test fitted everything, and then took it all apart and painted it with appliance epoxy paint.

And now all assembled:

This is how the Shelby shock tower brace mounts into the car:

And here is the finished product!

Here is the car it went into:

Actually, I have a tech question regarding this. Is there any constant power to the back of the car I could tap into to wire up the electronic lock for this thing?

The shock tower isn't that far away from the SJB. Just run your wires under the door sill and behind the rear trim panels. Then just run it under the carpet in the trunk. You'd have your power source without having to tap anything-- you can use an add-a-fuse.

SJB?
The rest sounds easy enough!

Smart Junction Box. It's in the passenger side kick panel. There's a little door that gives access to fuses, but you can also pull off that kick panel all together to give you better access.

You can probably put something like this together for between $150 to $200. The strut tower brace can be sourced for around $100. You'll have to search eBay for the lock components from old police cars.
