Which flywheel is best for performance?

The Aluminum Flywheel. It will accelerate faster. You will give up some idle quality and you'll need to raise the idle speed for more stability due to the less inertia. this is something you should ask your tuner to do in your tune to make up for the idle speed lowering caused by the Lightweight flywheel.
The car will be faster with a lighter flywheel as well, not only in the 1/4 mile but also on any road you drive the car. It may only be a small percentage faster, but Faster non the less.

From Ford the Cobra uses one, the Cobra R used one, the Roush Stage 3 uses one.

I'm right there with ya man.. I would love to have one. Just not going to press the issue until I have a reason to tear it apart. When the clutch goes I will probably do the flywheel.

I need to get me one of them there Spyder driveshafts too.

Well, in that case, I'll get one and keep it in the trunk... just because.

bah spec all the way lol
My biggest gripe with SPEC is their proprietary clutches and flywheels, they are designed to be used together and if you want to use an actual stock replacement flywheel with a SPEC clutch you need a shim that should never be needed. And who knows how a SPEC flywheel would work with a clutch built to stock specs.

I don't disagree with the fact that they work and work well, it's just the proprietary nature of the parts that I'm not a fan of. You add extra parts (the shim) that should never be needed in the first place if they just built the clutch and flywheel to factory specs to begin with. Lets say you buy a SPEC flywheel later decide you want another brand clutch, the best I can tell is you are SOL and need to buy another flywheel to make it work.

yeah i run into the same problems when i fix dell computers. they like proprietary memory sometimes and even though 2 chips are identical in speed and capacity it wont work unl;ess its got the Dell sticker on it. i even tried to trick the computer by removing the dell sticker and putting it on the new chip but it was a no go

As an engineer involved with the making of computer chips that is a good one!!! ROFLMAO!!! You should make like you are a consumer and call Dell and tell them you swapped the stickers but no joy! I'd bet money they will transfer you to India and some doofus will start down a checklist "helping" you out!!! :D

Seriously, what they are doing is blowing a fuse inside the memory chip to make it "Dell" compatible only and then assrape you 5X the cost! Oh the bullshit involved in these high tech things!

One of the best ones carwise is Bosch or STP oil filters. You can get the same damn filters at Walmart under their SuperTech name for about $2 each!!! This set of filters are made by Champion Labs.

Oh shit I am off topic. Here comes the I********* points!

I just wish the GT had an 8 bolt setup so that I could get one now and not have to replace it once the new bottom end is ready to go in..

That and screw ford for putting in a 10 spline tranny.. So the clutch has to be replaced with the Tr6060 so No clutch or flywheel till the new bottom end and tranny are ready... :(

DAMN FORD!!!
