Why You Probably Don’t Want To buy Magnaflow Exhaust Products
I wrote this to help the buying community. I don’t want other people having the same problems I did.
I am not a person to bitch about every little thing. The F-150 post from two and a half years ago was the first time in my life I have ever written a “bitch” post (it’s below). This current one about my Mustang mufflers is the second. That’s two bitch posts in my life. Both about Magnaflow. That should probably tell you something.
I have had nothing but problems with Magnaflow over the past couple of years. I had a big problem with my F-150’s system (detailed below) and just recently with my 2012 Mustang’s system.
Here is the short version of why you want to consider staying away from Magnaflow. After this you can read more if you have the time.
-Magnaflow product quality has gone to crap. My F-150 system rotted apart in 22K miles. That’s pretty fast for one of the most expensive systems on the market. My Mustang mufflers rotted out and multiple hangars broke off the “cans” in 25K miles. The Mustang has never seen snow, barely sees rain and is BONE STOCK. It’s not like I’m pushing 700hp wroth of blown power through them.
-The Magnaflow warranty process is a nightmare (more detail on that below). One would think it was intentionally set up to discourage you from making claims……The warranty issues I had with the F-150 are detailed below. I just contacted Magnaflow about getting a warranty replacement for the Mustang Mufflers that just rotted out. I told them that I know it’s policy to go through the selling dealer. I told them that was not an option because of some personal issues between two friends’ that effectively burned that bridge for me. Their response was that I either go through the selling dealer, or nothing. Great customer service, right? I told them if they weren’t able to warranty my mufflers because of their “policy” I would be forced to write a “bitch letter” and go scorched earth on the matter. The guy on the phone told me have at it, and hung up on me.
So here I am, writing my second bitch letter about Magnaflow. It’s the only thing I can do. I have a junk set of $800 mufflers sitting here and a multi-million-dollar corporation won’t honor their unlimited mileage warranty. Take this information and do with it as you please.
Buy Magnaflow products at your own risk.
