Hey guys, need a little help. So when I switched from my 01 to my 2005 GT, I didn't think about winter tires. Well the time is here. Snow if flying in Ohio and with the 05 being my DD I need winter tires and bad. I have a set from the 01 but the rims don't clear my brakes. Heres my question. Will a 16 inch rim from a 2005 V6 fit my 05 GT?

I know this is may be a stupid question but I need answers ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Will the 16 clear the fronts? Correct me if Im wrong but it should, you can run a 15 in front for skinnies so a 16 should fit up front aswell correct?

no, GT brakes are bigger in the front

it's more than just the diameter that make the fitment work or not work

Where in OH are you? I have a set of snow tires on 17s with TPMS for my 08 GT. They will be coming off in about 4 weeks. If you can just deal with it for 4 weeks, I'll sell you mine at a stupid low price. Tires have good tread and will probably last another 2-3 winters. I've been using them for 3 or 4 years now. Wheels are in decent shape, but I've never take great care of them since they are just winter wheels.

I could NOT fit a set of 16" "pony" wheels off a friends v6 on my gt.
Hit the caliper and even with spacers would no work.
With that said, I am sure there are other 16" that do work.

I had to clearance the front brakes quite a bit. However got them to work. I know that it wasn't necessarily the right way to go upon things. But with the time and budget I had to work with, but it works (broke college kid problem). Will probably look to find a set of Brembo take-offs in the spring. But for the time being it works. Thanks for all the input guys.

Yep, rears no issue of course, fronts still had like an inch to sit flush from what I remember.
Sounds like the OP was able to grind the caliper though, that just wasn't something I was willing to do.

Any pics of the wheels/tires?
