I have a friend that bought a car in NY and drove it to WA to register it (he lived near seattle) and to protect it they covered it in blue painters tape, and did the whole car in the tape. Now when WA registered the car they put its original color as blue not silver!
I still give him shit about that.

Why???????????????????

the tape??????????????????????

on long roadtrips, a car encounters a lot of bugs and shit that sticks pretty nicely to paint. its just a 15 minute task to tape up the front end, and when i pull off the tape, its still nice and clean.

It's a very smart move.

Yeah, not that I blame him for not wanting to jack up the car, but why even go on a cruise then?..........

Looks like a darker version of fords powder blue... that would be a SICK color to have the car painted... with a GT500 Front Bumper and GT/CS Rear... oh man... that would be gorgeous...

no, to car enthusiasts (the only people that matter in this subject), i look like a guy in a nice car, who cares more about his belongings than impressing the person next to me on the highway. i feel that it shows how much i care about my car. i see a lot of nice cars taped for trips, and i think it shows commitment. its a shame there aren't more mustang drivers who do the same.

Dude don't be mashugana, the tape makes the car look like dreck. Grow a pair of schmekles and clean the shmootz off once you get there.

Here's my secret: washing the car. Don't tell anyone. My car's a 2005, get's covered with crap at the track, gets road grime, bugs and all sorts of mess during cruises and even on the way to shows. And the finish is still pretty darn pristine.

Seriously. I take the car out, it gets california car dusted on the return, spray bottle of water to remove anything of significance, then Meguier's Detail sprayed. Looks pretty damn good. See this pic? Right after covering the car with rubber at the track, front to back. Front of the car looked like it was covered in blackheads. But I cleaned it up and :

Taping the car? At the track, sure...but on the road. Come on man, represent! Let's see that bad ass car on the road in full Mustang regalia now...

i still feel like the trip to gainesville needs tape. there are so many bugs in central florida. when i cruise around town in palm beach, it can take more than a week for the car to get dirty. every time i head north past vero, i make sure to take 5 minutes out of my life to tape it up after i wash/wax. i still turn heads.

in fact, yesterday, i was turning right, and there was a group of girls in the crosswalk. one of them, as i was starting to accelerate, yelled, "i fucking love your car!"

two days ago, my car was posted up in front of my buddy's apt complex (3rd picture), and a group of people were asking me questions about it and telling me how hardcore it was that i taped it up for the road trip up. they also told me that it is awesome.

as you can see the tape does not hinder anything. it is still a torch red mustang gt. it is still slammed. it is still quick. it still turns heads. i drive it on road trips, because it is fun to drive, and it is my daily. i dont care what other people think, because i love my car and i want it to be fresh forever.

a clear bra may be in the my future. i just always go on road trips last minute, and don't think about it otherwise.
