  • No sweat. I wish I had some guidance when I was starting out. I used to teach med students (clinical rotations) at Brown University when I was a Chief Resident. The toughest thing about medical school IMO is that you're forced to memorize lists of things before you have any clear clinical context in which to understand the relevance. Feel free to contact me anytime.
    HaHa! Ortho is good work.

    Now my rant:
You'll find that FP and Internal Medical doctors have diametrically different ways of doing things - in medical residency you'll see this more. Family Practitioners, to their credit, have a diverse set of skills - however they're adept at handling "healthy" people and simple diagnostics. Internal Medicine physicians deal with sick and complicated patients.

Think of it this way - Family Practitioners are like Jiffy Lube. A Internal Medicine physician is like a seasoned auto mechanic. Sure, Jiffy Lube, will top off your fluids, offer you coffee and give you a free air freshener ... but, when your car really needs help you need to go to a proper mechanic.

I'm an Internal Medicine physician BTW.

    Good luck!
Congratulations on med school. What are you planning to do, eventually? Are you planning to subspecialize? Important bit of advice - Family Practitioners are pussies. Internal Medicine is where it's at. If you want details just ask or shoot me a PM.
dacofa keeps trying to give me neg rep and it just shows up as a blue dot and takes away no rep. I think it is kind of funny because I still get to see his doush comments but they don't amount to anything. Sort of like dacofa's life come to think of it.
I think the blue dots mean someone tried to give you negative rep but their rep is so low that they are not allowed to give negative rep.
I don't have it. He was supposed to call me last week, but he just showed up instead. He's got mine, but I don't have his. it's like a bad date. haha.
