S197'S Are Obsolete Already, Got Schooled Today!

Boy was I wrong, about just bending the flanges back! No way in #$@@ it's hardened steel! I'm did find a body shop who said they can use heat to pull it out, etc. It will weaken it of course but I don't care. I pulled the bumper and inspected it, it's a mess. I did end up getting 3 bolts total...

    Mustang Rebuild

Maybe less "red tape" in CA regarding straightening the frame? My 07 got hit in the front and just bent the flange back on the frame rail where the bumper brace bolts to with 4 bolts. 3 of the 4 can be bent back with a Crescent wrench the 4th did crease the tube a bit. No body shop around wants...

S197'S Are Obsolete Already, Got Schooled Today!

I lifted my car yesterday on my lift to get a view from underneath. The frame rail has 4 bolts to the bumper bracing, currently only 1bolt in it. I can easily hammer 2 of the flanges back to position (with the bumper off). This would give 3 bolts more than enough. Might even get lucky on the...

S197'S Are Obsolete Already, Got Schooled Today!

Hey JC sorry about your loss, but as long as the frame isn't damaged I think it's rebuildable. CJ Pony lists a pair of OEM Ford front fenders for $612, hood is expensive unless you go fiberglass. Anyway it's a thought. It doesn't look like there is any frame damage by the looks of the bumper...

S197'S Are Obsolete Already, Got Schooled Today!

Yes that's possible, there was a used pass side for $100 on EBay yesterday. Driver's side are harder to find. The frame rail is almost 4 ft long and ends under your feet. But you only use about 2ft of it, but it has to be cut off near the shock tower. Which wouldn't be that big of deal except...

S197'S Are Obsolete Already, Got Schooled Today!

I will try and keep this short? So I buy an 07 GT and did notice the paint didn't match great on the fenders to the doors. So a year later I decided to get it repaired and re-painted. The local Ford dealer's body shop educated me today! First the drivers side frame rail got hit hard enough to...

    2007 Parts Schematic

Hello again trying to get the parts breakdown for basically the front bumper back to the radiator including the sheet metal holding the headlights etc. My car was in a front collision and they did real bad repair, apparently I'm missing some L brackets that go down to the frame around the ends...

    Air Bags or No Airbags?

Hello all, I bought an 07 GT that apparently had a frontal collision with considerable damage (fenders, headlight sheet metal, bumper etc all replaced). It was not repaired by a reputable shop. I'm sure the air bags deployed but who knows if they were replaced. Nothing had been reported to...

Update: Paint it or keep it as is?

Well just got it back after the body shop inspected my 07 GT. It's a mess! The frame ends where the bumper bolts on is bent w/only 1 bolt on the drivers side. They say the vertical sheet metal around the radiator isn't welded to the frame etc. (I need to look at another S197 to see if the metal...

Paint it, or keep it as is?

Talked to the body shop today, they Will only blend it into the door. He said as some of you guys said, he can't tint it well enough to just paint the panel then clear coat it. Sounds like this is the only way to get it done in this area. I know some of you guys will say find another shop, 2...
