Norm, after you comment yesterday regarding advertisements, I was confused. From today's post I better understand. I see absolutely zero pop-ups, ads of an type. I am assuming it's because I use an "ad blocker", my choice happens to be 'Adblock Plus". I honestly assumed this site did not have any advertising of any sort as I've never seen any ever in 2 years! Might be worth a look. Paul

Sorry for the delay - I don't know whether profile posts send out email notices or not because I'm sure not getting any. I'd trade the ads for profile post notification in a heartbeat.

Anyway, what is Adblock plus and what does it need to work with/what won't it work with? FWIW, beyond being able to grasp a smattering of HTML the whole internet-communications side to computers is mostly a big mystery to me, so if I screw something up I'm not at all sure I'd be able to recover things to where they were.

Hi Norm. Just read your suspension post. Why do S197s spin out? Before my S197 never worried about that. I think the brakes has something to do with it; Ford says its poor driver skills. I have a blank sheet to make SJ clone. My only requirement is getting 15x10s within the wheel wells. I'll remove my gas tanks on put ladder bars on if you think that would solve the spin-out. Thanks!

Did I ever answer this? I've never gotten notices of profile posts, and I'm not apt to look in here (PM works better). Without more information I'm afraid that I have to agree with Ford on this one.

      Hi Norm,
Personal message/question to you on spring and damper choice without breaking the bank, or dragging my floorboards down the road. I like your setup except i cant afford those nice 18x11's you have right now. i posted a Q on the forum in corner carver. maybe you could chime in. May 5th Lightning this year.. come on out!
      thanks,
      Intis

      Hi Norm,
Kyle Sherrill here. In researching lowering springs, I ran across a thread here where you indicated you were running gt500 BMR lowering springs on your GT.
That they were rated for a 1.5 inch drop, but your lighter GT netted about .5" in front and slightly over 1" in the rear.
That sounds perfect for my needs.
If you could confirm, I would appreciate it.

      Thanks,
      Kyle

Sorry for the delay - I don't seem to be getting any notices from this site any more and 'Profile Posts' is a brand-new thing for me.

Anyway, yes, those were the amounts. If it matters, I shimmed the rear springs up to more closely match the amount the front was lowered.

      Hello Norm!
Enjoy reading your posts and words of wisdom. I'm 62 and thinking of signing up for my first hpde. My car is my daily driver and mods probably aren't that beneficial for track use but I like the performance and sound. My brakes are stock and decent, but I'm thinking of upgrading front pads and putting in fresh dot 4. What have you done? Also curious about rear suspension upgrades, again stock except for lower springs. I know a big downfall will be my tires and wheels, but too big of an investment right now. Wheels = 8.5*20 tires = Firehawk 275/35r20. Very much appreciate your input. Let me know if my mods do not appear. Steven

Sorry so late. Profile Posts is new to me today, and it doesn't send out notices.

Carbotech XP8's/G-loc R8's for your first few track days, both ends. Make up some brake cooling ducts from aluminum dryer vent tubing.

275's on 8.5" = out of spec for the tire, steering response and precision probably be a bit 'soft'. No idea about transition from US to OS.
