Thanks for the replies. It's still on the original belt, as far as I know. I'll try the water mist trick. However, the fact that it quietens down when I switch the a/c on (i.e. more load on the belt) points at the a/c clutch, I think.

I've had my 06 GT from new here in the UK. Summer weekend car, bone stock, and still has only 40k miles. I had the a/c compressor replaced at 35k miles and immediately noticed a faint squeak on startup, but it would go when warmed up. I thought it might bed in, but it's slowly got worse over...
