Those of you with long tube headers- had any issues with exhaust alignment after install?

I've had similar experiences with 2 exhaust setups. The first was with Pypes catted H, new over-axel pipes and MBRP mufflers, and most recently with BBK LTHs and a catted X. In both cases I couldn't get adequate clearance over the axel or the exhaust tips centered. After hours of screwing...

    Oil Pan and Engine Advice

The chain installation really is that straight forward. Just line up the marked links and make sure everything is torqued properly. One thing to note is that after installing them, if you start turning the crank, the marks won't line up again until many turns later (something like 58 turns)...

Guys who have done gears themselves.

I did my 410's out of the car. It was my first time doing gears so it took a number of tries to get the shimming/pattern right. It would have been a real pita doing it on my back, especially for an old guy like me. I also did the UCA bushing, seals, bearings and painted, so do all that on a...

Rear coil springs in relationship to ride height

That's correct. Returning the rear to factory ride height will return the pinion angle to factory as well. Keeping the lowered front doesn't change the pinion angle since the angle is related to the driveline/chassis, not the ground.

What have you done to your mustang today?

The other day I went hunting for a rattle that developed in the rear. It didn't take long to find the exhaust rubbing on the panhard support. I installed all new exhaust a few years ago and it cleared then but I guess it sagged over time. I messed with it for a while and couldn't get the...

    Brenspeed Tunes?

I got the similar Vortech V3 kit from Brenspeed and their tune was terrible. I eventually went to Lito and the difference was night & day. I would strongly suggest that you go with the HO kit that includes the intercooler. The Summer temps in LA are going to kill your IAT's. I ended up...

Might be go big or go home time on my '06

Ok, I was still thinking that didn't sound right. From the Vortech website: Novi 1200 = Vortech V-2 Si Novi 1200SL = Vortech V-3 Si The Novi 2200SL is a larger compressor with a 3.00" outlet capable of 27 psi. The V-3 Si has a 2.75" outlet and is capable of 22 psi. As best as I can tell...

Might be go big or go home time on my '06

The Vortech V3 is equivalent to a Paxton Novi 1200. The 2200 is a larger unit.

    What am I missing??

The Bosch sensors are identical with the only difference in the part numbers being the length of the pigtail.

    ProCharger blowoff inquiry

MAFs in centri systems are set up as either draw-through or blow-through. My Vortech system is draw-through which means that the MAF is located before the SC (just after the air filter). The bypass valve is located just before the TB and the discharge from the bypass is piped back into the...

8mm as I recall, right? Yes, you'll need an 8mm flex head ratchet wrench. I bought one just for that bolt. Tricky, but doable.

Tuning and LTFT (Long Term Fuel Trims)

You have no idea what you're talking about. Manuel (Lito) is literally one of the best 3V tuners on the planet. He operates out of Venezuela and therefore does his business via email. If you give him what he asks for he will work with you and at a VERY reasonable price. Sometimes it takes a...

What parts need to be swapped from Mustang 4.6 to Explorer 4.6?

Is the Explorer 3V an iron block? The Mustang 3Vs are aluminum block. I've read that iron and aluminum are interchangeable if you don't mind the weight difference. Not sure about the relative HP capacities if you're planning a high HP build.

10inch stripes Gloss or Matte Finish?

Gloss for sure. Vinyl is cheap if you want to just try it on the hood and see if you like it. You can get a 10' roll on Amazon for under $20.

    Mutha thumpers botch install?

This is mechanical timing, not ignition timing so no timing light. The R and L should line up when the crank is in the right position keeping in mind that it happens every other rev of the crank. The colored chain links won't necessarily line up. The links eventually will line up if you keep...

    Racing Seats Suggestions

I tried Corbeau GTS IIs. They looked fantastic but weren't very comfortable. I ended up pulling them and having my OE seats recovered for less than I paid for the Corbeaus. Expensive lesson, I'll never buy seats again without finding a way to sit in them first.
