Dealer will not clone my BCM

When I redid the MS-CAN circuit on my car I had to replace a couple modules (APIM/ACM I think). I used Forscan to write my AsBuilt data to them. I was also able to turn off TPMS and program new keys. I am not sure if Forscan can do a BCM, but I think it would. Check out a Forscan forum. There is...

I got home Sunday and installed the new DS yesterday afternoon. It definitely cut down on the whir-whir-whir sound. The gears still make some noise, but the whir is pretty much gone. I put the old DS on the tailgate of my truck and messed with it a bit to see if I could find a binding point or...

With 165K miles on it, I am just going to change it out. It's easy enough to do.

Had a buddy get caught in the PTO of a tractor in HS. He lived, but got mangled. Best to learn from other people’s mishaps in my opinion.

I have not removed the driveshaft entirely yet. When I do, I want to take it apart and see what it looks like. See what is worn. If it turns out the DS is the source of the noise, I’d like to try to identify the point of failure.

Ordered the Ford Performance aluminum. Will see what kind of difference it makes. I’ve heard the two piece are notorious for noise. Read a lot on the topic. Seems odd that Ford would go two piece on a car like this. It’s heavier, more maintenance, and it has to be more expensive to make and...

Here’s an update (kind of). I finally have all the parts I need to change bearing and gears to 3:73. After we went to a car show this weekend I decided to put the car on the lift and play with it. I disconnected the driveshaft at the rear and then moved it out of the way. I then had my son spin...

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the insight. I’ll keep working through it and post back what I find. As far as my carrier bearing in the DS, I figured that could be it, but with my mechanic stethoscope, it really sounds uniform. The whoosh whoosh sound is prominent in the front pinion...

    Anyone have this HVAC connector??

T Thanks, another member PMd me and was at the pick and pull yard and found one. He sent it to me. I haven’t been home to see if it arrived yet, but that’s why this group is great. Erik

I am resurrecting this because it’s a continuation and an update. Just before Christmas I had the Ford Performance rear differential rebuild kit and decided to just bring the car and the parts to a shop. Figured it was a good time to do it and they just charged me labor. While the car was in...

    Anyone have this HVAC connector??

This is a long shot and I think I’m going to end up going to a pick and pull for it. Problem is, there are no great pick and pull yards within 90 mins of my house. I’ve also been watching marketplace for people parting out cars, but no luck yet. Figured I’d post up here. Car is a 2010 GT with a...

    Shaker 500 Head Unit Question

I did the solder and shrink wrap think. Those flat connectors suck. And when you just lay two male connectors on top of each other, it does nothing. E

    Shaker 500 Head Unit Question

Because everybody likes an update. I got the newest APIM yesterday. Plugged it in to see if there was a change, there wasn't. So, I ran through the pinpoint tests in the shop manual to triple check that. It all tested within parameters. So, I was miffed. I know this car has been in an...

    Shaker 500 Head Unit Question

I'm not a pro at this, but here are my thoughts. Your car has "as built" data assigned to the VIN. You may be able to find as built data from a vehicle that has what you are looking for and then write it to that module. For example, your instrument cluster may be in KM and you want it in miles...

    Shaker 500 Head Unit Question

I'll post an update here in the event someone else has this issue in the future and finds this thread. I have a factory manual (PDF) for a 2014 and a 2007 GT. Neither of them is exact to my 2010, but close. The 2007 manual makes no mention of the APIM. The 2014 manual is what I used. Anyway...

    Shaker 500 Head Unit Question

I am resurrecting this thread instead of starting a new one. Dealership was zero help (no surprise). Went to a local stereo shop. They said they could not get power to an aftermarket head unit, so I am back in my garage. Using Forscan I cannot see the APIM (Communication module). Tried two...

That is awesome. I had my 2010 GT in the shop for an alignment yesterday and they believe it is the pinion bearing in my rear end going out. I am considering just buying an entirely different rear end from a junkyard and then rebuilding my current rear end. I am not to the point of doing it yet...

    Can I fix this?

I've had some luck with Car-Part (Nationwide salvage part company). Got one of my front fenders from them in the color I needed. Also have bought interior parts as well. May be worth a try.

Yeah, I get that. I am having a whirring sound that comes and goes. Sounds like a pinion bearing. I'm not overly concerned yet. I have a bunch of other things to fix first. I just know it is a matter of time :)

I consider myself moderately mechanically inclined. I also like to learn to do new things. I once bought a SBC just to take it apart and rebuild it. Then I had to build a rat rod to put it in. I have just never taken a rear differential like this one apart. In other, older, cars I have just...
