They are the same. All 2011's use the exact same one. Doesn't matter what engine, brakes, model, they're all the same.

This applies to the hydro unit as well. Prior years, different story.

Hmmm. I wonder it's a more "intelligent" unit. I've heard there are many more sensors in the 2011 traction control system. Maybe the new system is more interactive and can adjust for variables such as weight, calipers, etc.

I was thumbing through a broshure(sp?) during my last service vist and it says something to the effect of "a calibration thats specific on the brembo cars." Leading me to believe there was more to the separation between the two setups besides calipers and rotors. Whether thats something that can be done with diagnostic equipment or just complete marketing hogwash, I have no idea.

With the advances in the stability control on that car, I wouldn't be surprised.

Thinking about buying a base car and slapping your brembos on?

The calibration is different because the cornering forces are different due to the sticky Pirelli's. The brakes really have little to do with it other than their selective activation when stability control is triggered. Yaw and steering sensors make the call based on their calculation of the cars attitude and forces imposed. Selecting "sport mode" also changes the calibration to allow a bit more aggressive driving. Other than these two built in programs it's unlikely you'll ever be able to make adjustments to that system. Stability control will soon be mandated on all cars and the liability of messing with it is too great.

It will cost you more to add the brakes later. Considering all you get with the package it's really a bargain. The Pirelli P-Zeros retail for $1400 alone.

No. There's been extensive speculation about the function and safety of using GT500 Brembo's on GT's and whether or not the module swap is advisable.

If the new GT's use the same module/calibration than I feel more at ease about my setup.

If I'm buying a 5.0, Brembos are a no brainer.

I swapped my Baer 6P plus setup from my 05 to my 2011 GT/CS the first week I had it. I have 6K+ miles on it now and not a single issue with braking. BTW you can't get the Brembos on the CS package. I haven't done any road coarses yet (missed my chance at Texas Shelby 350 last week due to TruTrac issues) but I will hit a coarse soon. I will update then if there is any issues. It will definately stop in hurry with the 14" 6 piston setup though.
