Some provinces have graduated licenses. You can get you license at 16 but there are conditions and you must work your way up to a full license. Luckily I had mine before that shit came into effect.

Welcome from Chatham and I did not have to do graduated Lic as it was not around when I got my Lic I got my Beginers and 2 weeks later was a licened drive. But anyway welcome and yes a GT is the way to go.
