Here are some vids I have from Irwindale of Adam, Don, Paul (me), Dean, Ken. If you have any vids from Irwindale of s197's kicking ass, feel free to post them up. Mark, I know you must have some....

Ken's camcorder is widescreen, so when I edited them, the aspect ratio went to normal, but it "squished" the cars--they look weird in the above vids, does anyone know how to fix that?

Here are the vids Donna and I took on June 21, 2007

=====================================================

1/8-Mile Drags, Irwindale, June 21, 2007

After picking up my car in San Bernardino on Thursday afternoon (roll cage, new tune and couple other things), we went to Irwindale on Thursday night with a few of the LA area guys. My torque converter is not locking up properly in 4th gear, so it's not pulling hard at the top end. However, it really seemed to launch well... I recorded my two best ever 60-foot times (1.52 and 1.53). Donna and I only made four runs, all between 7.12 and 7.18. However, the trap speed wouldn't go above 95mph.

Video #1
This is Paul vs. Adam (driving Brandi’s car). Paul’s hellacious burnout caused some optical interference with the video. haha. Paul ran 7.20 @ 95.12, to Adam’s 7.33 @ 97.31.

Video #2
Time 7:12 pm, DA = 2,373 ft:
This is my first (and slowest) run of the night. After cutting a 0.550 light, I ran 7.188 @ 94.95mph, with a 1.569 60-foot time. The Chevy in the right lane went 7.789 @ 86.53, 1.646.

Video #3
Time 7:48 pm, DA = 2,205 ft:
Mark and I lined up against each other on this run. I caught him taking a little nap at the tree (0.522 vs 0.729), and beat him to the stripe on a holeshot. I ran 7.127 @ 94.51, 1.523 to Mark’s 7.069 @ 93.25, 1.495. This was my second best run of the night, and my car’s best 60-foot time ever.

Video #4
Time 9:09 pm, DA = 2,033 ft:
Donna and Paul raced each other here… and what a close race it was! Even though Donna ran about 5/100 quicker, Paul cut a great 0.535 RT (to her 0.597) and got her on the tree by about 6/100. Donna ran 7.166 @ 95.24, 1.593 to his 7.212 @ 95.19, 1.577. The final margin of victory for Paul was a mere 0.0164 seconds, which is about 2 feet. WOW!

Video #5
Time 9:50 pm, DA = 1,952 ft:
This is Adam and Dean going at it. Dean had a little hiccup on the launch, which cost him on the ET. He ended up running 7.65 @ 98.19 to Adam’s 7.12 @ 97.97. Adam told me this was the quickest run Brandi’s car has ever made. Nice!!

Video #6
Time 9:51 pm, DA = 1,952 ft:
My last run of the night was against a Chevelle on the bottle. It turned out to be my quickest run of the night, and my 2nd best 60-foot time ever. I jumped out to a big holeshot advantage on the light (0.558 to 0.962), but the Chevy tracked me down pretty easily, and covered me by a couple car lengths. I ran 7.123 @ 95.39, 1.533 to his 6.445 @ 105.65, 1.501.

Don, excellent vids. I like the commentary you type out for each run, very well put together and your car sounds like a beast.

Well, just killed a quick hour watching all those vids! Very nice work.
I couldn't get the last one to load up. The one with the GN (my personal favorite car and inspiration for my ride!)
Don, you have any 1/4 mile track vids, or any in your area?

hahah... you didn't actually get to the last one. You just got to the bottom of Page 1. hehe.

Anyway, thanks for pointing out the broken link. It was missing a character in the URL. Here is the correct link: Video: Donna vs Buick GN

There is one 1/4-mi track (CA Dragway @ Fontana) about 90 miles north of me. I was there for FFW last Oct (vid link in my signature), and expect to be there for FFW this Oct, too. As far as going there for a Street Legal event for some T&T passes... highly unlikely. Something about a 3 or 4-hour round trip, 14-16 hour day, and waiting through 400 cars for a measly 3 or 4 runs (at best) is not appealing to me whatsoever.

Ahh, ok, didn't notice more pages to the thread, looks like more viewing pleasure!
You state that the GN was having issues, what does it normally run?

I've seen it go low 7's, but with a hellacious trap speed. Here is a run from back in April (when we had to run the 10# blower pulley because of no roll cage).

**Video #9, Time 1:53 pm, DA = 2,430 ft:
Since I made the first 8 runs of the day, Donna was going to get the next 8. And her first one out of the box was one for the record books. First of all, she drilled the tree with a killer 0.009 reaction time, and then ripped off a 7.304 @ 95.627, 1.606. It was easily the best run of the weekend. The 7.304 was a new all time low for my car on the 10psi pulley… even with the DA in excess of 2,400 feet. The hard charging Buick Grand National (nitrous and turbo) has some big top end power, but a 0.321 light coupled with a 7.375 @ 106.274, 2.133 run, allowed Donna to take the stripe by 3-4 car lengths.

So, who's the better driver, you or your wife!
Wow, that GN was indeed hard charging once it got spooled up. Wonder where he is spraying at, doesn't look like it launches all that good, but once it gets going is insane.

Her best ET is 0.005 better than mine (7.079 vs 7.084). I chalk it up to her 100-lb weight advantage (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Hopefully, we'll both see some 6-sec runs here in the near future... the new torque converter ought to help some. I just hope the weather cooperates, too.

I bought two tech cards for twice the passes!!! Since they were 20 bucks I should have bought 3 and I could of had 12 - 15 passes:clap:

I thought each card was 4 runs max (3 if it's busy). So two cards would be 6-8 runs, and three cards would be 9-12. At least that's how it was in 2005.

Anyway, if we can get three cards, maybe Donna and I will try it there again during the cooler months. But only after the lights are installed. There's no way I'm going to get up and leave my house at 4:00am to be there by 6:00am.

Well, they had it broken down into five groups i.e. 100s-500s, but I didn't come close to making all of the two groups I was in......the track prep was so terrible, the first 60ft was like whoop-de-doos from the uneven gobs of rubber accumulating on the track. Though it was kind of funny watching a car with bookoo power shoot a rooster of rubber debris at the launch.

I'd be pissed with track prep that bad. Even Qualcomm is better than that...
