So, finally i got all the part that i needed to install my 15X3.75 Race Star in my 2011 Gt today, and the install went great.

A lot of thanks to John from BBR that has been very helpful and patient every time i need technical help. Also JP From HTP Motorsport that no matter how small are your needs he is always there to help.

so back to Technical thread. Yes, all you need is the 2010 GT Front Caliper Bracket and the Small size rotor. I got the caliper bracket from a Ford Dealer in Texas, delivery was super fast and so far they have the best price for the bracket. Here is the link for the bracket item number 8:

http://www.trademotion.com/partloca...0380&callout=8&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0

Then i got in contact with JP@htpmotorsport to buy the 2010 GT Rotor take off because they were the cheapest way to get them. Eventually i will buy cross drilled and Hawk pads for better braking but these way it work fats and cheap.

Here are the pictures of the 2011 big brake and the Modification i did.

I don't want to give specific on price because it might be different for other customers specially counting shipping but just to make the swap and be able to use the 15X3.75 i spent $103. which i think is great because i like to have 15" front and back, i think is less weight and you might get better tire choice.

I just hate that i bought 26X11.5-15 for the back instead of the 28 tall. Not because of the performance because my tires are great and every body advice me that size is the best for my HP but it looks small as hell. I will eventually get 28 tall and step up the HP in the car.

I KNOW THOSE FRONT TIRES ARE BIGGER BUT I AM PLANNING TO GO 28 TALL IN THE BACK LATER ON SO THE CAR WILL LOOK MUCH BETTER THEN.

looks good, i just feel like downgrading brakes would be going backwards, thats why i just stepped up to the 17's.

Plus they look great! ;)

But good info here

Thanks for the info. I will have to weight the cost difference between the swap vs. 17" wheels and tires.

I don't think so. Simple bolt on and easy enough to move back to the larger rotors if/when needed. I like the idea of having the same size rims on the front and back but that is just my O.

i already had 15" race star and it wasn't that much more for the bracket and rotors, then i figure i wanted to upgrade the rotors and pads so is a good time to do it. For now i just needed installed so i went with the stock rotor and i am re-using my pads.

i figure 17" race star are just lil bit more than the 15" if not the same but i think tires are cheaper and more selection, but my main decision was because i wanted the 15" front and back.

+111

If you think about the performance of the brakes is like i was saying before, i wanted to install cross drilled and slotted and hawk pads like these ones which are better than just 1/2 inch bigger and i don't think we even have aftermarket brakes for 2011 yet:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/dba-front-rotors-0509gt.html

http://www.americanmuscle.com/ceramic-0508-gt-frontpads.html

But i am going to deploy soon and i am running low on cash :dead2:
so i decided to just get the shinnies on front to race before i deploy

Also i can swap them back on in less than 20 minutes, is super fast and easy but is no need so far i can not feel the difference at all.

the rear fit perfect they did not change the rear size, but you are going too low on the front man. V6 brakes are smaller than the GT. I got GT 12.4 from JP@HTPMOTORSPORT here in the forum. They were almost brand new as you can see and the car breaks perfect and they are cheap...

Remember the only thing you need to modify in the rear is the sway bar. You need sway bar relocate plates.

In reference to the bold above-Is there a wheel/tire combination for slicks that fits without sway bar relocation? also, specifically what wheels on the back? Is it the 15"x8 with 5.5" back spacing? the summit / jegs call center peeps don't seem to know what would fit when I have called.

With regards to the Summit/Jegs wheels, you will want the 5 spokes. Summit calls them Fast Five. The 8 hole rims WILL NOT fit.

Front:
15x4.5 1.75BS 4.5 bolt circle

Rear:
15x8 5.5BS 4.5 bolt circle

Fitment:

Front - you will need the 12.4" rotors and caliper mounts. You can get the front to fit with the smaller brakes and a 7/16" spacer with moderate grinding on the face and top of caliper. You can get the wheel to fit without a spacer with aggressive caliper face and top grinding. (I will post a pic later of what that needs to look like.)

Rear - sway bar relocation is recommended. You will have to grind the face of the caliper down for the wheel to fit.

The wheels are on the cheap but they will not fit unless you spend time grinding the calipers. I bought a 4" grinder with extra wheels and cutting disc's from Harbor Freight. It has taken me some time to get it done but in the end well worth it. :)

Question...what would be required to get the 2011 brake set-up on an 05-10 Mustang GT?

Looking over your thread, it appears the mount bracket and the larger rotor? Is that all?

Does anyone know if the 18x8.5 Polished factory bullitts (from my 2007 GT) will fit the 2011 brake set-up?

to the op... I would be willing to purchase your 2011 parts if that is what I need?

Also... what is the purpose of the extra hole in the 2011 rotor?

thanks,
