I need some help figuring out want tires I want to get just for the track. I love my BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 285-40R18 for the street, but I only am running 13.35 with them. For next year, I want a set of rims and tires just for the track.

What type of tire should I get? What size tire and rim? What brand of tire?

Please teach me tires.

With your mods (or the lack of - sorry:beerdrink:) I would stick to MT et streets on the cheapest 17" wheel I could get.

I may get a S/C next year too, depending out my stuff work out.
I've always been told that nitto aren't good tires. I want a set that will last me and I will grow into.

Lots of guys running Nitto's, and claim to be happy with them.

If you're looking to "grow" into something (as in buying a supercharger in the future) then just go ahead and get the M&H 275/50-17 drag radial on a stock type wheel.

With your set-up if you run the M&H 275/50/17 you will trap at about 5700 in 4th. I run those now on stock bulletts, they fit and work great. If you put M/T's (also works good with the stock bullets) on you can get your trap rpm a little higher using 26" tire and alot of guys have good luck with those. My fronts are narrowed stock bullets with 215/55/17's. Between 150 each for narrowing plus the price of the new tires, a set of front skinneys would be more cost effective. Of course Bogarts are the best option right now if price doesn't matter. Just not a good "drive to the track" set-up. Greg welds may some day "soon" have some affordable rims available. There are also guys using Holeshots. Depends on your budget and goals. I would use the stock bullets for the rear with M/T's or M&H's and the stock fronts with Pirellis for now. Hold off to see if more options are available once you get the S/C.

i use stock 16" V6 rims with ET Streets 26x10.5, but i also have the 3.55's. with 4.10's you would probably want to go with a 28x10.5. of course if you did go with the 26" tall tire it would be more like having what a 4.30 gear+/-. i'm able to cut 1.7? 60's with them.

After doing a lot of experimenting with my NA setup (I have 4.10 gears and a 5 speed by the way), MT 275/40-17s or MT 295/45-17 seem to give me the same results re ET and 60 foots. The 295 series tire LOOKS and DRIVES on the street a lot better because it's 27" compared to the 275 series 26" height, but the 295s are nationally backordered until 2009! So I'm using 275s for the rest of the season. These are on cheapo 17x9" bullitt wheels...

I just bought a set of M&H Drag Radials 285-45R18's and also some extra Fanblades to mount them on. These tires are pretty close to my stock size (235-50R18) as well.

I am doing the same thing. Have the 2 M&Hs for the track, otherwise stick to the KDWs I have on now.
