That is possibly one of the flanges on the car, either transmision or pinion end.

Transmission end:

and I'm not sure about Dynotech's 11+ driveshafts, but some companies provide a CV adapter for the Pinion end:

Okay, need some guidance here... opened up the replacement Dynotech driveshaft so I could start getting things ready for Saturday's install. Below are the only instructions with no explanation as to what the thing circled in black is? Mine doesn't have one in the box so figured I had better get some input... What is it, should it be in the box, and are the torque specs really only 25 ft/lbs for attaching the driveshaft? All of the videos online reference 100+ ft/lbs at the rear?

Post a pic of the actual driveshaft, those instructions dont look like whats available online.

Here are pics of the actual driveshaft ends and hardware (bolts) provided. It looks like it should just bolt on but have no idea what the "Shear" bolts are for?

I believe pic 2 corresponds with the instructions, and the shortest bolts are shear bolts since they are different than the other 4.

Weird that they only use 4 bolts to actually hold it in and replaced 2 of them with shear bolts. Just follow the instructions. Its an easy install.

I think you are right... just went back out and looked at the end and the 12 & 6 o'clock bolt holes don't go all the way through so that would make sense based on what you stated. So based on that the black piece in the instructions must be a reference to the pinion flange...

thanks for the help and sanity checks guys!

The two short bolts go in from the bottom up, the four longer bolts go through from the top and actually attach the driveshaft to the pinion flange.

That setup is different from the 05-09 setup, but still fairly self explanatory.

I agree on the 4 + 2 = 6 common core but in actuality it is 4 bolts to hold the drive shaft on, and two "Guides" that have no effect on holding the driveshaft on.

Anxious to hear your experience cuz I've never wanted to mess with the driveshaft for fear of NVH but of your experience is good I may get one.

My driveshaft has been perfect and its held on by 6 bolts, not 4 like some redheadedstepchildposdriveshaft.

How much NVH do you get rolling around the garage?
