Eboost2 install

Got the Eboost2 in the mail yesterday and got started on modding the roush vent pod to fit it. I thought it was a 66mm unit but it was the smaller 60mm unit which worked out great. Got lots of pics for ya.

I followed the roush instructions for installing the ventpod and they worked well.

The roush vent pod is designed for a 52mm gauge so i had to remove the inner ring and trim down the tabs to fit the 60mm eboost2.

After i had the inner ring dremeled out, i slowly removed plastic with the dremel evenly from each tab till the eboost2 would fit snuggly.

Some test fitting with the trim ring on

Back in the car i used the install directions from turbosmarts website to wire it up. Needed a 12v key on and ground which i had there easily from my switches, also wired it so i can turn it on off with the switch for the wideband gauge as well. Also needed a rpm signal, Since i already had the raptor shiftlight installed i just spliced off of the rpm signal wire right there at the raptor. Then its just running the other 2 wires to the engine bay that will go to the solenoid, and the vac line.

To make it easy i just routed the wires and vac line behind the door trim insulation below the a-pillar and into the engine bay. Left the wires fro now till i find a good spot to mount the solenoid and hooked up the vac line to the vac hose going to the fuel rail sensor.

All patched up!

Having a few issues with rpm read out, it was set on 8 cyl but im only using the wire signal from 1 cyl, I tried changing it to 1. And it didnt read at all though, changed it back to 8 cyl and it kinda works but blanks to zeros every couple secs when its reading and it only reads at idle and slight rev anything above 2K rpm and it blanks to zeros.

Could use some help here if anyone has installed one, thanks.

I am wired to the green wire going to one of the coils (ignition signal which is what my raptoe uses), the connection is good too i checked that).
The turbosmart instructions say to use the negative wire which doesnt really sound right.

The following points should be followed to connect your RPM signal to the negative terminal of an ignition coil. NOTE: Caution should
be exercised when connecting to the negative terminal of an ignition coil and Turbosmart recommends an ECU connection where

possible. IMPORTANT! The RPM signal should not be connected to a coil of a capacitive discharge ignition (CDI) system.

Is that your shift light in place of the 12v cig adapter? Looks pretty slick there.

Yeap! :) and then i used the 12v source that normally went to the cig lighter to power/light my gauges and now the eboost 2.

Yeah i tried a few more times to figure out whats going on, i pm'd willy as he has one. I know if u wire it to the ecu ignition wire u have to have it set to 8 cyl. Since i am tapped off the one coil wire im pretty sure its suppose to be set to 1 cyl. Its just the bit in the directions that say use the coil ground that doesnt make sense to me, i dont know why the ground wire would carry a rpm signal as apposed the to coil wire(green) that gives the rpm signal to my raptor and works fine.

Hopefully someone with an eboost 2 will chime in, and i will play with it some more tommorow.

Thanks that def helped i will try it out tommorow. It was acting weird on the 1 cyl but maybe thats normal like stated in that thread i will set it to 1 cyl and drive it and see what happens. I guess its not a huge deal if i dont need to use the rpm correction, as you stated you didnt have to.

I also didnt use the white (aux) wire or the 2 external setpoint wires for my setup up. Which i believe is fine not sure what these do exactly.

What vac line to wastgate/solenoid setup are you running? The directions call for 3-4 setups for an external wastgate.

method 1 in thier instructions,im coming off the turbo and teeing that into the bottom port of the wastegate and then to solinoid, then the other vac line goes to the top port of the wastegate

Alright everythings good to go, set eboost2 to cyl 1 and im wired off the igniton signal to one cop. I wired off the raptor(green wire) to the yellow wire on the eboost2. It still acts a little funny at idle,(fluctuates) but runs fine and steady and tracks good while driving.

The raptor (green wire) is wired to a coil wire off one of the coils in the engine bay(green wire with pink stripe)

I must say the peak rpm, peak boost recall features are nice on the eboost2. My raptor shift light is still set at 6400 rpm from before the engine/cam work, and this morning i shifted out of 1st as soon as i saw the light come on and my peak rpm was 6600. So now i know my shift light reaction time lol. Tried it a few more times and everytime i was around 150-200rpm late. Now that my rev limter is at 7000 rpm with the cams/springs, im going to bump my raptor up to 6700 and see where my beak rpm is as soon as the shift light comes on. Lets me fine tune my shift light so im shifting at the rpm i want, i like!

Too bad my peak boost is still zero for now lol

wait till you got boost, you'll prolly be even later on the light

Very good point! the rpms are gonna be moving faster for sure. And im sure i will have to dial it in again. Although i dont think im going to rev as high once the turbo is in.

What do you turbo guys rev to? stock/heads? cams/headwork?
