ok i will look into one of those, ive asked this like 4 times . would there be any problem with me making a custom air to air intercooler setup? it seems like it would be pretty simple to do ?

You can make anything you want custom, just look at some of the crazy set-ups on this site alone. If it were me, I would buy a set-up done and that has everything you need for the install. Keep in mind I am far from a mechanic, so that is what "I" would do..If/when I get an aftercooler(I wont get/need one till its time to run some real boost with a real bottom end), I will go with the after-cooler thats air-to-water cooled kit that Vortech offers.

Unless you are drag racing ... is an I/C really necessary?? I would think with just an occasional Stop Light race or on-ramp run a non-I/C setup should be fine. I'm considering Brenspeeds Paxton Throw-Back ... non-I/C and around 440 RWHP ...

An I/C or meth is not "necessary" per say. It just makes sense to not run an in-efficient blower remotely agressively. You "can" tune it to make power, but you will be buying a replacement engine very soon. The goal is to keep the IAT's down as much as possible. And the 440 hp advertisement will really end up making about 360 or so whp on a hot day and brutally high IAT temps..

I have the Vortech V2 non-cooled (twin to the Paxton non-cooled). With just 4.10's, big stall converter, X-pipe, and drag radials, I ran an 11.85 @ 113+ last week after a long cool down. Subsequent runs (hot laps, with no cool down in between) got much slower (12.30's to 12.70's) each run. I have decided on ordering an AIS trunk mounted water/methanol injection kit to keep temps down so my runs can stay consistently in the 11's. I've been running non-cooled for 2 years now. My car is a daily driver with a very conservative tune, so it can be done reliably. However, for consistent runs at the track, some sort of cooling is a must as I've learned first hand.

My torque converter is going in next week:nk:..I cant wait to see what it feels like to start off at the right rpm, and utilize my 4:10's, blower cams, and torque curve..Its 11's or bust for me..:stooges:

I got my Snow stage 2 kit for about $400 new in the box. You have to plan on money to install it, and a full custom dyno tune for it though..Worth it for sure though..ANd I sent you a PM...

i planned to intercool it down the road . would it be safe to install it and go from there? it should still make pretty good power for now . i do understand in the warmer weather it will suffer !

If you are gonna intercool it down the road just wait and knock it out all at once to be safer.Thats what I would do but thats me.I'd rather wait and do exactly what I want all in one shot.Snatch that kit up if its a deal but just wait till you have everything you need or want!

Your 60' times will drop 3 tenths of a second (assuming you have good traction to support it) with a good aftermarket converter. That'll put you in the 11's for sure! With the stock converter, my 60's averaged in the 2.1's with an occasional 2.0X. Now, it's consistently in the 1.75 to 1.85 range run after run after run.

$400 to $500 for a good kit (i.e. Snow, AIS, etc.). As others have mentioned, you also have to account for installation and custom dyno tuning. Figure about $800-$900 total investment. Adding an intercooler instead could easily cost 2-3 times as much and not provide as much benefit (you get an octane boost with the meth, not just the cooling effect that the intercooler provides).

Your car has more/better mods than me, and I ran an 11.85 last week. You'd pull 11's assuming you have the traction and driving skill to support it.

i have a set of mickey thompson et streets. if the blower doesnt drop 3+ tenths then i will be very unhappy. i know with a 100 shot and a couple mods the car ran 11.8 it dropped over a second! i added cams, l/t headers and suspension work and she ran 12.2@110 n/a the last time i went to the track . it was hooking great getting 1.6 60ft times like 12 times in a row. very consistent car . cant wait to get this thing and install it !!

Very interesting info, dude. Thanks.

I used the Snow Performance kit in my Subaru and it worked great, but I would get the Aquamist kit now if doing it over again. They have a better failsafe if the pump or nozzles stop working. Also make sure you have Meth available to buy locally.

I wouldn't put the kit in until I had everything so you only have to get a custom tune once instead of tuning for the blower and then having to tune it for the Meth or IC. You could take that cash and put it towards building the block.

How long does a Meth fill up last anyway. Looks like a pretty small tank. It's works all the time right? Just knows when you're needing it and kicks in automatically?

Do you leave at idle?

Dont use the tank they give you. Tap into your windshield washer tank:thumb2:..
How much meth you use will depend on you driving style. I havent gone through 2 gallons yet since last June...
