Hey all,

I was involved in an accident yesterday and the whole front end of my car is going to need to be replaced. Has anyone done a GT500 conversion? Or ever had a bodyshop do a swap when insurance is handling payment? I assume I can get the parts and just pay the difference in cost, just wanted to see if anyone has any experience here before I ask my shop

Thanks for any/all help

I wouldn't have the badges. Just the front end (probably not the hood either)

I know the cobra outline is on the grill. I would put a horse with the tri-bar in its place

Yes, if you find the right shop, and depending on the insurance company, have a good adjuster.

Many times the parts are very close to the same cost. And that is why adjusters are willing. You would have to pey for anny addition parts, labor, and paint if there is any overage...

That said, as a way to help you locate part numbers and info from those that did this as a conversion...

Here is the one for a 2009 conversion to a 2013 GT500... http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114647&highlight=gt500+front+end

And I think Kenaizer knows what parts are needed...

Oh! Found a parts list http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109551&highlight=gt500+conversion

Found it!!! http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88113&highlight=gt500+conversion

Can you take a picture of the hood to bumper gap? I've talked to White Bear Ford (formerly Tousley) about doing that; and they said the gap is much much bigger than the GT bumper/ GT hood gap. He basically said its doable but would require a GT500 specific hood to have a stock gap. He said it was a 1/2 inch gap. Can reduce my fears? Lol

I've been involved in a couple conversions, and there is no gap that you're talking about. It fits like stock.

Sweet. Still like to see a close up on the gap on his car. Maybe I can forward the picture for educational purpose to the guy who told me that.
