So Friday the 8th is the Byron IL street car shoot out. I have entered the Street sweeper class with my twin turbo 2006 Mustang GT. I currently run a set of 305/45/18 MT DR's on the car but the rules for the street sweeper class call for minimum 220 Tread wear and no DR's or slicks plus they must have DOT stamp.

I just purchased a set of Darkstar 15" x 10"w rims

Whats the biggest foot print / best tire compound thats legal for this race in a 15" rim?

I'm so use to just throwing a DR on everything I'm not up to speed on other types of options???? Please remember the car is heavy and makes over 740lb of TQ. Cost is not an issue, not winning is :D

Thanks in advance... MP

You're going to have a hard time finding a big footprint 15" tire that isn't a drag tire. Most of the 15" summer tires are in the 195-225 wide range.

I'd go with a bigger diameter wheel so you can get wider tires (if you're allowed).
The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 will probably be the closest you can get to 220 tw. All the good non drag tires are 200tw or lower.
The PS2s have 275/40r17, 295/35r18, 315/30r18
