Neither - run my car for 3-4 years with a blower, 500 hp, stock gears.

Sorry to jump in on your thread but I was just curious when is it really necessary to run those gears? Or is it just good insurance to do so? I was under the impression the 3v pumps were pretty solid and didn't have the failures like the 2v and 4v did. I'm jw because I'm gunna be building a motor over the winter and am aiming for 600rwhp range so just wanted to pick your brains about it.

Theres been posts about oil pumps shattering.

Whether they were the cause, or the result of the issue seems to be debated though.

Some say tensioners bottoming out on SC setup grenade the gears which means its a result of another error but compounds itself.

Others my just be high rpm's/harmonics etc. but I dont think ive heard of billet gears grenading yet. Bonus points for 2013 GT500 oil pump housing which has billet backplate you can pair with the billet gears

exactly why I did it, 400+80ish for the housing is worth the cost of being sure they wont possibly grenade on me and wipe out all the bearing surfaces instantly
