broken fuek guage. Pls HELP

My sons fual guage on his 2005 V6 seems to be broken or he has one hell of a reserve. The tank is full. Any advice for repair,remedy or cause? How ifficult of a fix is this. can I buy just the guage? Do I need tho whole cluster? HELP

Do a search here for 'stepper motor'. I recall some discussions about this where guys had disassembled the cluster and replaced the bad gauge motors. I think there was even a guy on ebay who would do it.

You can replace the stepper motor itself. The motor is less than $10 and needs to be soldered on. It's pretty easy as long as you know how to solder.
