I am a student pilot learning to fly out of Marlboro Airport in Marlborough, MA, FAA designation 9B1. It is said if you can fly into and out of 9B1.. you can fly in and out of just about anywhere... 1600 feet of runway with trees at one end and the street at the other. The runway 14 approach is far easier than runway 32!

I'm learning in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, I've also flown a Cessna 150, a Waco YMF-5 open cockpit biplane (stick and rudder, baby!) and a Robinson R22 helicopter (my one and only flight at the controls of a rotary wing)

I have 39 hours in my logbook and have completed ground school. I am going for my private pilot license. Its a long haul.. contrary to popular belief, it doesn't take fuel and good weather to fly. It takes money and lots of it!

Does anybody else fly or taking lessons?

I flew for several airlines but most of my years were with Airborne Express, before DHL bought and destroyed them. I have flown many aircraft types CV580, YS-11, B727, DC-9 and DC-8 among others. I accumulated over 20,000 hours in my career and didn't really want to retire but when I hit 60 years old the rules required me to retire. Now they have been changed to 65 but it was too late for me.

sounds like a lot of time on airways...

I have:
~24 hours in T-34C
~100 hours in T-43C
~3000 hours in C-130E/H

almost none at the controls...

I have one hour flight time on the F15 Eagle. After we landed we had a ground emergency for hot brakes. We pulled 7+ Gs.

My empty barf bag before the flight - didn't have to use it.

Flew Piper Cherokees back in the day but, with a back seat ride in a Fox-4. [F-4 Phantom, now obsolete LOL] That's when I decided my need for speed was over.

I flew today... one hour of low-level. Its good to get back in the seat (I have been out of the plane for over 3 years). Hopefully I can get through requal sooner rather than later.

Back in the day at a remote site in Alaska...

Nice to see there are other aviators with the love of flying here!
I am at the end of getting my Private Pilot License, I actually took my written test today and passed with a 95%! I took the test at Aviation College at Fort Pierce airport, I have never been there before, there is all kinds of pilots taking tests for PP, IFR, CFI and Multi Engine. When I finished and the instructor came in, he looked at my 95% then he took a double take and said "Wow"! I laughed and said to him, "You mean out of all of your pilots here, you don't see many 95%'s!? He shook his head and looked at me with a big grin!
It was great!
I already did my short solo cross country, I have my 2nd long cross-country to do (Because it is a Part 141 school) then prepare for the check ride!
I began flying in a 1952 Cessna 170, now I am flying a 2002 Cessna 172 Skyhawk. Occasionally I fly my friends Piper J3 Cub, it's awesome leaving the door open and flying low and slow over the ocean and taking pics and observing the sea life!
(Not too low and slow though!)

Congratulations on the exam. I hope you enjoy flying and can continue to advance, it just gets more fun as you get into instrument flying. I went to Embry-Riddle in 1968, when they first moved to Daytona Beach, for my initial flight training and my degree in Aeronautical Science.

Nice, that plane is out of Elmendorf AFB, Alaska where you stationed there?
3rd Wing at Elmendorf AFB was the only base I know of that had F-15's the 354th Fighter Wing at Eielson had F-16's.
1979 F15 was good year though that would make this one a F-15D.

I had a Private pilots License in the 80's, but I can't afford to fly anymore.

Why a F-5E Tiger?

I wanted an NA F-86D Sabre when I flew, I had a chance one to get once but wound up with a vintage Piper Cub :-(

The J3 Cub is a fun plane, I had a Army Air Force version L-4J it was drab green with a white star, I will dig up picture of it.

Small, powerful, light, agile, excellent for low-level attack runs and can get gone in a hurry if necessary. Plus, they actually sell them at auctions from time to time!
