Hey guys, would like a little input/opinion. I am looking to upgrade from my 2008 GT/CS vert. into a used GT500 coupe. My budget allows me to get into the '07 to an '09. If all things ( mileage, price ect. ) are close from year to year, is there one year or another that is better than the others ? I know by searching (only searched for problems for each year) that the 2007's had clutch issues, but is that enough to stay away from them entirely and only get an '08 or an '09 ? As far as modding, The cost of upgrading into the car may not allow me to do much either, so am looking to get a stock one and probably keep it that way for a while.

Thanks for any input.

Find the cleanest one and buy it. Clutch and damper are better in 08 and 09 and no you will not keep it stock trust me

should be doable for a near stock, lightly modded one with 15K+ miles from what I've seen

that statement/promise was strictly for the approval from my wife to buy the car. HAHAHA

If I can hide them from her, like a pulley ect. they may get done

07's didn't come with the HID option as I recall. I would also think that if I bought a new 07 GT500 and they came out with a recall/TSB on the clutch that I would have that done...so if you bought one it may have a new/newer clutch in it already.

Given that a 2007 is out of warranty, I don't see how he's going to get the TSB done.

That's a little steep for me, there seems to be a few low mileage 2007's around that are asking in the low to mid 30's. Which seems like a good deal to me. That is why I am asking for the input. Would the 2007 be worth getting if only the clutch etc. may need to be replace at my cost for $1500ish but the car is $4000 cheaper than some similiar 08/09's, or should I spend the extra money on a low mileage '08/09 and not worry about the issue? If the only major complaint on the 2007 is that, I may be better off, or is there more to the 2007 I may not be aware of ?

You can find a couple 08-09s for 29-32k but they may be around 20,000+ miles. IIRC later year 08s had the TSB done at the factory while early model ones did not.

I thought the 2007 problem was with the input shaft splines being slightly out of spec and the fix was a new transmission.

I saw an 08 with 16900k miles go through the auction for $27000. and another 08 brought $28200.00 with a lil over 13k miles. This was at a wholesale auction. If you know a wholesaler he should have be able to look at various auctions sites and see whats available. If you do locate a wholesaler offer to pay auction fees, give him $500 plus his expensives and you could really save $$$ from going to a dealership. It really depends on what part of the country you live in and don't buy one from up north. A large Manheim auction will run about 9k cars a day. Hope this helps some.
