If you are going to put this in a pressurized pipe then you should use the threaded sensor, part number F6SZ-12A697-A.

That is the downstream IAT (IAT2) sensor for the Ford Lightning. That other sensor is the IAT1 (upstream) sensor for the Lightning, as well as a few other Fords. The older IAT2 sensor was in a metal base and the new version is in a plastic base. I normally weld in a bung to thread the sensors into, if they are going into a pipe or tube. I would be worried about blowing out the sensor if it was just in a grommet.

I have mine on in a grommet & there is no way that SOB is going to come out. I will probably break it to get it out if it ever needs to be replaced.

for the record.

The purple wire gets disconnected completely from the MAF and goes to one end of the IAT.

The blue wire gets split, we used a connector that crops into the wire and ran it to the other end of the iat.

That way you get the signal you need for the maf, and for the iat.
