Thanks for the advice tigerhonaker, I'll have to do some more research on it probably. I sitll have some other rooms I need to work on before i tackle that project.

I would do a small door or drawer and make sure it turns out the way you want it.

I'll echo Tiger's advise on doing a sample door. The original cabinets in my kitchen are painted white over a very dark stain, and while they did come out a decent white they look like trash up close because they were done 'in a hurry' and the finish is terrible. The other downside is they are one color on the outside and still the same one you hate on the inside, unless you REALLY get motivated!
