I am contemplating a swap to fixie to be honest. I at least want to try it.

Pass on the fixie. I am going fakie. Ordered a new rear wheel with a coaster brake. Single speed and fixie all wrapped up into one. Just like the old days for me, with a coaster brake on my Huffy BMX which was my first bike. Should be in early next week. White wheel with black spokes, black nipples and a black Shimano hub. Can't wait to get it.

Bike is now finished. I have put way more into this bike than I had planned, but with everything, what can be left stock?

Bigshot Dublin SS (now a fakie) 46/18
Black 700c Aerospoke front wheel in gloss black
Shimano M520 clipless pedals
Fyxation black track grips and bar plugs
Sette Edge stem (heavily used)
Specialized Avatar saddle
Specialized Armadillo tires 700x25
Custom Origin8 rear wheel w/ black Shimano coaster hub, black spokes/nipples
Black Incredibell

So far, it is an absolute blast to ride. Puts a huge smile on my face. Gets a lot of looks waiting at the lights. Perfect commuter bike for me for the 8 mile ride to work.

8 miles yes, fixed gear, not exactly. It has a coaster brake, like old school bikes do. You have one gear like fixed or single speed, but you can coast like a single speed but not a fixed, and just pedal backwards to brake like a fixed but not a single speed. It is like the best of both combined into one.

so what is the gearing??

Currently 46/18. I want to swap the 16 back on there from my old wheel. I will do that this week sometime. Took it out for a quick ride with a buddy to downtown for some pizza and to hang out. Love the ride so far.

Gonna bump this back up, found a bike I like and thinking about putting a down payment on it. Can't ride a whole lot right now and the salesman told me they were doing a layaway plan on their inventory until April 1st so I wouldn't have to have em ship it and store it until it gets pretty here again.

It is just about done. Aerospoke decal removed, new stem, 16t cog, Easton carbon fork and to complete the "fakie" I added some decals. I plan on dipping the front wheel black to give it a more dull look.

I envy your mtb rides. Thought about picking up a cheap SS fully rigid and just riding that for fun, but it sold really quickly on my local forum.
