Got the motor back today, fixing to start bolting stuff up. I was going to do a “motor build” thread but figured I’d get better results with individual threads..?
Installing a Melling 340HV oil pump, it came with a spring 60psi bypass spring. Do I keep the factory installed 80 or switch to the 60? I have no clue what this spring does

Keep the 80... 3v 4.6 motors are very dependent on good oil pressure.

Great pumps, the install is the worst part unless you have the engine out already. I put one in my F350 (5.4 3v) a year and a half ago. The timing chain guide broke and I also had to pull the heads, so the engine came out. Once you pull it all the other work is a breeze. 20211128_150510.jpg

What did your Engine Builder suggest?
I didn’t get to talk to him as much as I wanted. Was trying to beat the rain to get motor home. Didn’t really want to bother him with issues he’s not getting paid for either I guess. I get shops griping about that. Have a TON of tuning questions but hate to bother Lito with all of them…..no moneys exchanged hands bcz my cars so far from hooking a handheld to
