How is it that the 2011 v6 3.7L is suposed to make 305 Hp, and the 2005+ V8 4.6L makes the same amount of Hp?

Technology my friend. The old v6 was a SOHC 2 valve. The new v6 is a DOHC 4-valve with Ti-VCT and higher compression allowing it to make a lot more power. Just like the new 5.0 is rated at 412/390 and the old 5.0 was only rated at 225/285.
Plus you have to remember that the 4.6 has been around for a looooong time. It's outdated just like the old pushrod was.

That's no lie, lol. :deadhorse::flamethr:

The 4.6 was a great idea and the whole of the inspiration for modular technology and design for the Coyote, and many other motors. What they never touched was the V6, if anything putting the 4.0 in the S197 was the ultimate slap in the face, considering the technology options they had at the time. I just think they did it to save face because the 4.6 was tapped out. The 4.6 just never had the balls to put right up in GM or Mopar's face. Now, with the Coyote, the Mustang has a giant set of nuts, and they're all over GM's chin with them, and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it except put a blower on their precious LS motors to keep up. Now they'll compare their blown Z/28 to the 5.0 when it comes out. Once they come out with a production blown 5.0, GM had better come up with something better than the Z/28 w/ a $75,000 price tag, because Ford's still doing it better and cheaper, with less cubes.
