i talked to m&h a while back about the 275's he told me you could run them on 8" rims no prob he said he actually had a guy run them on 7" and win a championship ...... now they would be better on a 9" but the 8 will work and i may be wrong lakers but i dont think its the height every1 talks about running small it's the width .....
Actually......I had them on an 8" wheel and won a championship.

I don't see the need to run anything more than a 275/40-17 M&H tire on any N/A car. Anything bigger is just extra weight you're dragging down the track (IE: slowing you down).

Well, then 275's it is! :bigbeer: Plus, I'll save a little bit of dough! I'm still hoping to see some more results with NA cars using the 275's and 325's. I looked on the ET rankings list, and it doesn't show the size, just the brand. Thanks SD!

You're not going to shock the tires with an automatic. 275 should be just fine on your car.

I can pull 1.62/63's on a good track with the 275's

1.67/.68 on an average track.

Mounted on 17x8 stock rims.

Like S.D. said, no need for dragging the extra weight and width down the track at our N/A power level.

last time when i race i started the day at 20psi, i couldnt hook for hell it kept spinning was getting 2.0-2.1

I dropped down to 18psi then i got 1.90 w/ spin

then i droppe down to 17psi and got two back to back 1.84s

Odd thing is before when i had 3.55's i ran the tires at 20psi and i didnt spin i was hooking 1.99's then *shrug*.

now im running bracket this saturday and i have no idea what to do w/ my tire pressure lol :D

I always ran the 275's at 17psi and the 325's at 14psi. I ran the 325's lower because they were a wider tire, I wanted to try and get the hump out of the top of the tire since it was on a 9" rim. The tires wore nice and even all the way across at that pressure.

what do you know about the 18" versions? specifically 275/45-18

i already bought a spare set of fan blades...been holding off on which tires. m&h or mickey's

naturally aspirated with intake and tune, 4.10's, spydershaft and a 3000 stall convertor (auto).

this is a bracket car application

well that's good to hear someone else ran it at 17psi i hear so many people running higher but maybe it has a lot to w/ the track/prep and all cars are different (shrug).

Dang Rench how are you getting 1.6's? because of the 4.56's? *shrug*!! then again u have a lot more mods than me.

i have 4:10s my car is also full weight ;/ maybe this weekend ill have better success than 1.84's , maybe better weather+track prep.

I guess I'll run at 17psi on my first pass see how she goes only problem is my track still has sections of it under construction and they have no air pumps, ill have to borrow someone's if i need more air LoL.

With that combo you should be fine. Haven't seen anyone with the 18" version but I'd venture to say you won't spin those tires. Start at around 20 psi and work your way down in 2 psi increments.

I'm leaving the line at 2700 rpm on 3 psi of boost and don't spin the tires. Even at a peak boost of 8 psi which happens right at the 1-2 gear change....no spin.

I run M&H 275/50 17 on a 17x9 bullet and it looks like it might be too wide of a tire for the 9", it fits but I think it would be perfect on a stock 8" wheel.. Also I am running 16 PSI on the M&H Tires

Not the best picture but the tire is 1 inch taller than the stock tire

Here you can see the difference in tire height between the Stock Tires and the 275/40 17 BFG DR's I ran the last 2 years. they are alot shorter than stock.

94tbird - Ron runs the 18" 275/45/18 and loves them, has pulled 1.5x 60's

That's with the 275/40 NOT 50's ... right? I have the 275/50/17's on stock 8in rims and they are a bit tall...

Im getting 1.80-1.77 60'

The 275/40/17's wouldnt be a as tall, correct?

With the 4.10's I could hit 1.68/69's with a max effort launch on a good track. With the :56's that's easy now. The 62/63's are max effort on a good track.

My set-up likes 23/24 psi.

I ran the 275's the first half of the year and the 325's the second half of the year. They are pretty close to the same height. The 275's might be a 1/4 inch shorter. They are both approximately 28" tall. My experience is the M&H's run smaller width wise, not height wise.
Zackly! Narrower, but not shorter.

It is the width, but the width can affect the actual height of the tire according to the RPM spreadsheet I got from Don.
That spreadsheet is generic and assumes that all the tire dimensions are exactly as stated. As we have said, M&H runs small, so the 325mm and 275mm widths are not accurate.

Bottom line, always go the the tire manufacturers website and look up all the pertinent dimensions. Many times they are not as stated. Mickey Thompson does that a lot as well.
