Cosmetic mods only, no performance mods since the ECU is locked down.

The big screen is shiny, shows every fingerprint, and some have already scratched theirs. So ordered a matte protector, with a very easy install.

Tomorrow picking up the Mustang with new stripes. Did the Shelby Superstripe style again like on my 2006. This time in gray to tie in the stripe on the seat belt.

He had to redo the PF of course in order to put the stripe under the PPF. With the weather today though it needs to sit inside the shop overnight.

I asked him about the GT badge on the trunk and if it will be going back on. I think that it has 2 locator pins so if it isn't put back on I expect it will dimple the vinyl stripe. And I hope that it goes back on since it is specific to the Performance Pack cars.

Edit: I heard from Moe and yes, the badge is back on. He took the picture before it was reinstalled.

I almost forgot this mod. Ford probably saves $5 a car not putting a badge on the strut bar now. I ordered one to cover up the holes that are in the bar for the badge mount.

Is it true the ECUs are now locked down? That’s sad if true.

You can extract a modest HP gain by removing the hydrocarbon traps from the intake tracts (don't remove the air straightener). Otherwise the only other thing you can do is a resonator delete H or X pipe for the sound.
The S650 really could do with a serious diet.

Yes they are. I heard that Ford will allow certain companies access (like Roush and Shelby) to do some things.

My son-in-law, an engineer with Stellantis, said that the Dodge cars have been locked down since 2018 or 2019.

Dodges are 100% tunable. C8 corvettes can be tuned, 21+ F150s can be tuned. It will take some time but someone will crack the s650 backdoor.

Someone will crack the ECU I'm sure. Until then have to be happy with only 486 horsepower.

I picked the car up today. GT badge is back on. superstripe 4 - GT badge back on.jpg

A little final clean up before it goes out for the drive home. I have to wait 2 weeks before another wash so the PPF and stripe fully cure. The weather here is calling for light snow so it's going to get dirty. Plus at the office near my house the trees are shedding and I am working from that office tomorrow and Friday.

Where there is a will, there is a way…
True, but it depends how Ford will react. People who modified XBox and PS were treated like domestic terrorists from Sony and Microsoft. And, it it possible that some crazy regulations required to lock the ECU to fight ClIMate cHanGe or something.

PS: In EU there is a law that it is forbidden to circumvent encryption, also for personal use, so I'm afraid nobody will sell a tuner for the new car.

It is only a matter of time until it is cracked. I know of a few that are aggressively working on that. Overall concern sadly is how will the EPA respond? After the last lockdown with many companies that primarily started with diesel tuners. Then it hit domestic and import. I know of a shop that sold tuners (import shop) over the counter. They did not install. All receipts state "For off road use only" and got hit hard. That to me is BS, If I sell a product, how can I be held accountable for the end users actions? Same thing with weapons. If someone passes all the checks and is sold a weapon, how can you hold the seller responsible?

The world we live in is getting crazier by the moment.

By the way.......Jim the car looks great. Very tasteful mods. Enjoy it.

Under 3/36 or extended warranty then I can see an issue with Ford.

Unless you live in a draconian state (I live in FREE Florida) there is no emissions testing so you can do what you want… relatively speaking.

Enjoy the beautiful ride and post more pics.

Florida is a no emission state. That means nothing though. On a state level they don't care. On a Federal level the EPA is a different conversation.
