Surprise Muffler Mod.

I was wondering why my stock appearing mufflers sounded so loud......

The Car has always sounded the same since i got it, but i haven't had it that long, and its an 05 GT with 80k on it, there's no way this is a normal amount of wear. What would cause this, besides the car being parked in a lake?

That's not stock mufflers. The stock ones are all stainless.

I have no clue what they are then....just tried to see if there is any markings, but there is nothing significant...

This is funny. My buddy bought an 09 GT last summer and we were wondering why it sounded louder than normal. We ended up buying some muffler deletes for it and when we removed the mufflers we found out they were Flowmasters with stock tips welded, and they were rusting out just like that.

Ha, I had the exact same thing happen to me with a set of shitty Flowmasters. The car sounded fantastic until I put my headers on, then it sounded like absolute garbage. Looked inside the muffler and, sure enough, the baffling was rusted away.

I had a set of flowmaster AT's. after having them on for less than a year, they started making this rattling/baffling noise. I swapped them out for a set of borla stingers, sounded better and louder. Can't wait tomorrow when I get my prochamber installed.
