It looks like everything has to be up graded when going to high boost. Good idea on the tool steel pins. Wow that's a lot of things going south. I think, at least the guys that are reading your posts are learning a few valuable tips.

That's some really good service from ARP

Yea I'm learning some good tips too lol

Yea I dont forsee going all out like you, but I figured the thicker wall wrist pins was worth it, just 1 more thing thats stronger, and it didnt cost that much to upgrade

Good move!

On another note some more stuff is starting to trickle in, injectors are back from ID nice and clean, ready to go plus two new one from T1.

New ID approved 6 micron filter:

Now I just need my freakin' new pistons to finally get here.

I decided to go ahead and have my convertor loosened up a bit while it was easy to do, and just got it back. It should stall around 4500 rpm now, which should help to clean up my 60' times.

How much boost were you on when the pins bent. I went straight to the tool steel wrist pins at .200 wall. I've run as much as 21.5 psi at the moment. Glad you are getting it situated.

I resolved my issue with the FRPP intake being a flow restriction: Thanks Jeremy!

The runners on this thing are HUGE! And it's super tall! All aluminum, TIG welded, a very solid quality product, and it only weighs about 4 lbs more than the plastic FRPP intake. As good as this one is, I'm going to make it even better by doing some port matching at the bottom of the runners and cnc plate where it meets the heads. In any case this thing should out flow the shit out of the FRPP.

Looks good Kyle! Hell yeah tunnel ram lol, it does look super tall with no alternator and no valve covers. Its a little deceiving though, it is as tall as we could get away with but the throttle plate is very close to stock location and clears the hood fine. Works with some of the taller style strut tower braces as well.

^^ Yeah it is a tunnel ram lol

I ported a couple runners this afternoon to see how it would turn out, it turned out good! Take something good and make it better..

Before: It's hard to see in the pics but there is a thick flange around the plates where they meet the runners, I removed all that material resulting in a nice smooth and LARGE port, that will work well with my heads, the intake ports are just slightly smaller than my head ports now. 6 more to go!

After:

From just one port!

Some day I'll be done porting shit!

So what tool do you use to do that porting?

Also, nice work on it; your port jobs look like freaking art.

Nice work, ports looks awesome!

Thanks, yes I'm very pleased with how it's turning out, the porting made a HUGE difference, as good as it flowed before it should be off the charts now.

Mostly carbide bits like these to port then finish with sandpaper rolls.

Thank you very much, it seems like I always want to finish it better, but I eventually end up cutting myself off, you gotta stop somewhere right.

After lengthy thought and analysis I decided to remove my LPM. Since it was definitely detonation / random ignition events that damaged my motor and the LPM cuts the ignition on and off I began to suspect that may be contributing. This is especially since when it activates the motor usually backfires loudly, which is not good while under wot. I bet the big backfire when I left on the TB hurt the head gasket, then it checked out during that last pass. In any case I'm eliminating another possible problem, I got by without it for several years anyway. Then to my surprise when I was removing it I found a melted wire, this is on the circuit that interrupts the ignition. Yes it's soldered by it didn't melt like that from being soldered.

I'll see if the dtc codes are gone when I crank the new motor. BTW, I got a text from FedEx today, my pistons will be delivered tomorrow!

Lookie what arrived today!

Custom L&M Pistons by Diamond. These slugs are bad-ass, much better than the off the shelf Manley's I've been running in previous motors. Thicker crowns, coatings, lowered ring lands, H13 tool steel pins, and Total Seal steel rings. And everything is now officially at my machine shop, supposedly they'll have it ready in two weeks! That will be a miracle if it actually happens. And I was able to bring it to my local shop, they have a bunch of custom motors they're waiting on parts for so they have time to do my machine work while they wait. This saves me from having to drive 150+ miles to the next closest shop that I would trust. Maybe my luck has finally turned around!

Also, I completed one side of the S&H Intake, I'm very pleased with how the port work turned out.

Now that's a stout piston. What do they weight in at? I do hope your luck is changing. That porting is looking great.

I'm not sure on the weight right now, I literally ran them and everything else over to my machine shop on my lunch break yesterday, within an hour or so of being delivered by FedEx lol. Now looking at my old Manley pistons and comparing to the new ones, there really is no comparison, it's a major difference. Thanks for the porting comment, I'm not sure I deserve all the compliments on that but I'll take them! I have 6 runners done now so there's only 2 left to do and I'm about over it! These runners take about an hour a piece so I'll have at least another 8 hours in this intake plus the 24+ I have in my heads for a total around 32+ hours of porting! I'm ready to be done with all this porting work for a while lol
