temp gauge

anyone come up with a new way of running the factory water temp gauge and an aftermarket gauge?So they both continue to work?

I think most folks who run an after market water temp gauge leave the factory one in place. The factory "gauge" (I use the term loosely), if I remember correctly from reading on here, doesn't actually monitor the coolant temp per se, it monitors cylinder head temperature(?)
