UGH... That axle just tapped out... Looks like you got lucky and it did not take out the body panel =]

So my guess is... This was at the very beginning of a burn out in prep for a drag, or just as you launched... Because I normally see a lot more damage if you had any speed built up...

Relo Bracket gave out.

Here's the video.

Looks like my guess was wrong on the part, but correct on the action (Damage point)

So happy this happened like it did and not at any kind of speed. With the failure of a major part like that and the tire, that could have been very ugly!

Yep...that's why they need to be welded on. I see a little spot weld on there, apparently that's not enough.

Needs a full pass down the sides like this:

They were welded but just spot welded. I just ordered the new BMR's, I'll do that on this one.

BTW I may need to steal your tow hook idea :beerchug2:

Yea no doubt, it could've been a lot worse.

That is a great tow hook idea! I may need to dust off the welder this weekend.
Remember, it's all hanging on a very small weld around the loop so a really good weld here is highly important.
It would suck if that thing pulled off of there.

Disclaimer:
I use these loops to tie my car down in an enclosed trailer with nylon straps (which give-unlike chains) and my car is an auto so it's in park and the emergency brake is on. The ratchet straps are in front and I pull against the rear straps, so it works for me.
These are 3/8 thick loops....try and find 1/2" ones if you can. Muffler clamps are too thin and the material is soft so buy real U Bolts or bend your own loops if you have the tooling.
