Last time I was at the track was a few weeks ago at MIR. Lot of track nuts here so I thought I would post it here as well. Enjoying the site so far. Car goes to Powerhouse tomorrow to up the power and push the limits of the built block and stock tranny (do have a reworked stall and PA pan on it, but other than that stock). Plan is to break this transmission and then build it up.

Thanks to Buckman for turning me on to this site!

Details as follows:

My family and I went out to MIR about a week ago. I got up at 6am and looked at the weather and they were calling for 98 degree with 40% humidity so I was having second thoughts on going. But that changed when my 3 year old Marios was running through house saying "we racing cars today!!!!". Had to go at that point.

Looking at the track info, it was it was 95 degrees with 38% humidity. However, I am pleased with how the car ran. I like this track more than Mason Dixon, they run a real test and tune and let you hot lap. No holding up the staging lanes and doing the odd/even number crap.

No record breakers, but I now have the car dialed in....I was getting 13lbs of boost today....

First pass:
  • 60: 1.656
  • 330: 4.787
  • 1/8: 7.465
  • MPH: 93.10
  • 1000: 9.832
  • 1/4: 11.815
  • MPH: 110.68
I think I was loosing 2lbs of boost and some mph due to the heat.

Second pass:

  • 60: 1.649
  • 330: 4.774
  • 1/8: 7.466
  • MPH: 92.36
  • 1000: 9.844
  • 1/4: 11.854
  • MPH: 112.28
Ok, talked to some locals, they all said their MPH was down 6-8MPH. I can sort of see it, as the car usually traps around 118 and 119. Though I felt the car was not in 4th gear long enough on the top end. So I removed 3mph from the 3-4 shift.

Third pass:
  • 60: 2.139
  • 330: 5.638
  • 1/8: 7.412
  • MPH: 85.74
  • 1000: 10.813
  • 1/4: 12.817
  • MPH: 112.17
I puckered up again on this one. Launched at over 3k, thought I saw 11lbs of boost on the launch and the car spun all the way to 1000 feet. Car was all over the place. Note to self: stop getting greedy on launches. 5-6lbs is the sweet spot for launching!

Last pass:
  • 60: 1.701
  • 330: 4.816
  • 1/8: 7.476
  • MPH: 93.75
  • 1000: 9.827
  • 1/4: 11.798
  • MPH: 111.36
Considering the conditions, I'm very happy with the car, and the fact that I'm getting 11 second passes in 95+ degree heat (track officials said it was 100+ at the tree) and 13lbs of boost. And I can now hit a 1.7 60 consistently and starting to hit 1.6's now.

Tomorrow, I am going to Powerhouse to have Mike take the car to the next level. Hopefully we can get it all tuned up and ready for Norwalk. Also, note to self to listen to Mike. My previous runs at Mason Dixon were on 18psi on my MT ET streets. He said to drop them down to 15psi and I should see my 60fts drop.

He was right.

Here are some pics my wife took...

Thanks Don. This is a cool site. Was wondering where all the hard cores were from ModFords went. My goal is to bust into the 10's this season.

Todd, welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing the next stage of evolution for you ride come Wed. visit to PH.
Looks like the strip is going to be closed for me today with the impending rain, so Norwalk should be the place to turn up the heat.
Weather is looking good for Sat. at Norwalk, sunny high of 77, can't beat that for this time of year. Last year there was a scorcher.

No way, I was hoping you would get some 10 second passes in before FFW. 77, wow, way better than last year. Should be a good time.

Those are great times regardless of the conditions. I think both you and Buckman will be in the 10's before the season is over.

I am trying to hit 10's also next time I am at a 1/4 mile track--which should be August 4th.
