Okay since I don't know how to post pics you'll have to take my word for it. Trust me, I wouldn't lie about these times...

I'm looking for some insight as to why I seem to be slower than most. Is it me, the car, or the track?

You're picking up pretty normal MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4
But that 60" is murdering you, street tires? how/where are you shifting?

Street tires. Michelin Pilot Sports. I'm shifting right before redline. I admit my shifts are mildly conservative. Not flat shifting or slamming the gears.

3.31 gears

That will do it plus don't look forward to a crazy 60' with street tires.
Dress for the occasion

You're MPH seems 2-3MPH low for you're 1/8th ET and RT. I would say you need to shift more aggressive, and you would pick up some trap speed.

My best times are run shifting 1-2 @ 7200 (yes, different tune but red line when I had the ProCal), 2-3 and 3-4 @ 6500. Your 60' is good for mid 12s. But your trap is down. I have 3.73s, only difference. But I was running 12.40s @ 114 with the ProCal tune and Mac axleback with 2.0x 60' times. Work on your shifting. I'm guessing that's where a lot of your lost trap is. Frankie is right though, 24 mph on the back half is about right on.

your 60ft is for sure killing your ET, your shifting quicker would help, but not as much as a good set of DR's

Cool, thanks guys.

I know there is room for improvement with my shifting. I am definitely being cautious. I miss shifted my M3 (60k one owner)at this same track and blew the motor....3rd to 4th shift, went into second at 8grand like butter. That was an unhappy day...I don't want to repeat it.

I know every car can be different and was hoping I didn't get a "slow " one. I can live with the fact that it's probably more me than the car. I just need to work on my technique.

Will I see a noticeable gain wth a CAI and different tune? I was told my best "bang for the buck" mod would be a JCL CAI and a John Lund tune. The ProCal tune is a lot nicer than stock buy I have about 1k to drop on some mods.

LOL @ JLT CAI. The factory intake is great. The gains come from the tune. That's all you really need to change instead of wasting an additional $400 on a crappy looking piece of plastic.

Tune, DRs. You'll be able to get in the low twelves with seat time.

Not particularly, IMO. My car has the stock intake with a K&N filter. When I switched from the ProCal to a Lund tune (and offroad H) my car now runs 12.20s @ 115 (albeit 1.9x 60' times) on street tires. I'd stick with the ProCal for now and just work on your technique. There's a lot left in it, even with a 2.09 60'. Get your shifting down and comfortable first. Then worry about the launch and tires.

Well forget that then. 2tenths and 1mph ain't worth a grand! Plus it's a CPO and I followed all the procedures as to minimize the chance of a warranty issue. I'm "covered" on the powertrain till 2018.

Guess I'll just start bangin gears again! If I blow it I'll just be careful of what I disclose. http://www.s197forum.com/forum/images/smilies/emotions33.gif

Now what should I spend my 1k on???

Nice set of wheels and street tires?

Picked up a set of 20" Covcavo CW5's on Sunday. Not the best choice for drag racing but I love the look.

Next decision is tires. Looking at some Nitto's but not sure a DR is best suited for my needs. I do some track days and don't want to sacrifice handling. Thinking the NT555.

If you only drag race occasionally, don't waste the money on the tires for that. Hence why I still run street tires. It's 120 miles one way to the dragstrip so I don't make it there very often. Not worth my investment. Get some nice performance street tires and you'll be set. The 555's would probably treat you well.

If you go with the nitto 555, look into the new and improved G2.

I'm think I'm gonna go with the NT05's. Not the "r" version. Tire wear is of minimal concern because I only put about 3k a year on the car.

I was gonna do 305/30-20's in rear and 275/35-20's in front. Looks like the next thinner tire for the rear is a 275(lil small for a 10.5 rim). Figure if I'm dropping the coin on tires may as well get the meats!

I know it's been covered but....think I'll have clearance or rubbing issues?

Wheels: 20x10.5 et. 45 rear
20x9.5 et. 35 front (brembo car)
1.5 drop rear. 1.0 front on Steeda ultralight springs

Should we all assume your running PREMIUM GAS - your mph is way low like 3 mph low- makes me wander if the car is pulling timing do to bad gas from the pump or the pumpe'. (meaning you/ what the attendant was told to pump) (Jersey thing) and yes a New tune would help- but keep the stock air box for your mod level-
