Well I figured I will probably be n/a till it's paid off so what gears would you guys recommend 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 it is a dd and I like to bbring it to the strip about once a month or so. I only drive about 50 miles a day. Looking forward to input. By the way I believe saleen puts 3.73 in but not positive

Wouldn't something like 4.30's and higher be a little rough for a DD everyday? Its going to kill your mpg(yes, that matters to some and if gas prices go up this summer it will suck). Why not go with a medium size of nitrous that way you have the power when you want it, but for everyday driving you won't be sacrificing efficiency? It'll only cost a little, especially since you're only track once a month or so.

depends on how tall of a street tire you are running as to which gear to go with, imho. i run 4.56's with 28.3" tire on the street, and it's no problem. still gets about 22mph on the highway. in town, only about 16.5

at the track i use a 26.5" tall tire

Figure out what RPM at what speed your ok with, here is the math to figure it out
168 X MPH X gear ratio / by 1/2 of your tire hieght X overdrive ratio= 5th gear RPM
so here it is again
168 x 65mph x 4.56 devided by half of tire size, 13.5 = 3688rpm (4th gear RPM) X our overdrive (5th gear ratio) .68 or is it .63? anyway = 2508 rpm in 5th if you use .68

4.10s seem to be popular for a DD, but I would say if you like taking it to the track slap some 4.56s on there. As mentioned above you can always put a taller tire out back for the street. If I could go back, I would have done the 4.56s the first time around and my car is a DD.

Ok well I run a 28.5 inch rear on the street so I'm thinking now between 4.30 and 4.56 but how much will I actually gain going to a 4.56 instead of a 4.30

4.56's!!!!!

I was running 4.56's in my old car. I drove 76 miles each way to work daily. I still got 260 miles per tank.

I ran 4.30s in my Cobra and loved them. I would have done the 4.56s but I'm not quite the "madman/power commuter" John is!

:laughlots:

My commute is now only 30 miles, round trip but was over 60.

How about 4.10 with Roush TVS for DD. IS that combination good for drag strip??? A lot of people keep telling me that gear is too high for Supercharger in the track and it will be too hard to get traction.

So what was it like having to start in 3rd gear all the time :roflmao:

Well it will definitely keep you in the power band better than the 4.30s :thumb2:

Is there a chart on typical 1/4 mile gains for gears? ex...

3.73 = -0.1 in 1/4
4.10 = -0.2 in 1/4
4.30 = -0.3 in 1/4

??

If you are gonna add a blower later make sure you know what kind before you do the gears.If you wanna do a T.S. id say keep the 3.73's if its a centri go for the 4.10's. I'm having the same issue now,I have the 4.10's and love them but I want to do a whipple or KB and that means I'm gonna have to pull those 4.10's out if I go that route.

well, i am planing to put the Roush TVS R3200 with 4.10 gears so i know it will be hard to get traction but i got some people telling me that it wouldn't be too bad with good tires.

Also i am just worry about traction in the track. I have the race stars coming soon and i am planing to use M/T DR with them.

Just not so sure about 4.10 and the TVS together.

I run 4.10s with a TVS...I think it's a non issue personally.
