Well, the weather finally was awesome this weekend, mid 60's. So I decided to try some things out on my truck. I did the wash down with dawn to help remove any wax etc. Then I clay'd the whole truck. I hit it up with the porter cable with the megs 1 and 2. I then applied blackfire wet diamond with the pc and the results are stunning.

I'm very pleased with the results, The PC is very easy to use and like everyone told me, it is almost idiot proof. I love how much arm work it takes out of the job and how much better it does. At first Removing the polish was still leaving some swirls so I went back and changed my pad redid some of the spots and that took care of it.

I still haven't waxed the truck, I plan on getting it waxed this week but I wanted to let the sealant have a couple days. Unfortunately there is a chance of rain tommorrow.

I finished the detail off with cg vrp on all the interior. I really like this stuff for it has just enough sheen with one coat for me, and it's not greasy. That is the best part imo.

I used cg barebones on the under carriage, and as far as this product goes. I am sold. It looks great, smells like grapes and is easy to use. I then went back and did a final wipe down with fk425 and am sold on this stuff as well. It is by far superior to the megs quick detailer I've been using.

I was just glad I finally got to try this stuff out and enjoyed the day doing it. Next up is my wifes car and then the stang.

I don't have better pics as it was getting dark and these were taken with my phone. but the pics as you know don't do it justice, not to mention, the paint was looking pretty bad prior. I bought it used and the paint wasn't taken care of. It was clean but you could tell it never saw wax. It came back to life alot better than I had expected.

Hells yea man. Looks great. We're all gonna have to have a mustang detailing hangout one week. I've got a pc 7424 too and have been doing detailing on the side here and there for a few years now.

never use dawn, it dries out trim and rubber.

use IPA mixed with water, or a strong concentrated citrus wash.

Thanks. I think I could get it better, but it was my first go. I think I can do better with a little more practice on technique. It'd be cool to do a detail weekend sometime, I could pick up a few tips along the way.I've thought about trying to get a few cars to do as a side hobby and make a little extra money. I enjoy doing it so it woudln't be like work to me.

Want to sell the truck?

I've been throwing the idea around quite a bit lately not completely sure yet, but If you're serious I can give you details about it.

Thanks for the heads up. I just used it as I wanted to strip the wax. I didn't realize it had ill effects on the other parts. I plan on buying some citrus wash along with some more pads to apply wax/sealant with in the near future.

I appreciate your recommendations and answers to my questions on most of the stuff I used today too. I'm really pleased with all the products/results.

I actually had an 01' tahoe in the same color when I got my Porter Cable. Made it pretty easy to learn because of all the big flat panels to practice on.

^ Exactly. That's why this was my first choice to start on. I knew there was enough room for error if needed.

Thanks. The pics aren't so great, but it looks a lot better in person.

I appreciate it. I'm anxious to now do my wifes car. Now that I have an idea of what I'm getting into. Yep, again, why I decided to learn on the truck..Big flat panels!

Looks good man. I still haven't had a chance to try out the porter cable I picked up off Craigslist a few months ago. Weather is getting a lot better here now so I'm going to try it out here in the next couple of weeks. My car really needs it

Finally got the job finished, As of the start of this thread I had clayed and polished, sealed. I finally got back today and rewashed it with my CG Citrus wash, Diluted per the directions as to not strip my sealant. Got it cleaned up then got it waxed up. The wax on the sealent added plenty more depth and clarity. I was pleased with the end results.

I love seeing how clear the clouds are power lines and the trees. The colors are so vibrant on the paint and the reflections are awesome.

This is also I think some of the difference in using a better wax versus an off the shelf wax. Not saying they aren't good, but you get what you pay for.

I also got to try out the blue gaurd II . As Seer said, it is pretty awesome stuff. this is what makes us that enjoy this hobby, enjoy it. The end results.

Nice, what did you use blue guard on in these pics?

The black trim along the front bumper, mirrors and rear bumper, which you can't see really good in the pics. But the stuff looks great and works well. The one pic you can see the front bumper. It took a couple coats because the black was so dead on it , it was chalky looking. The blue guard did a nice job of bringing it back to life and it appeard to bead water some as I dripped some on it by accident. It has a nice enough sheen for me as I don't prefer the wet look as much as I do the satin look, so for my taste it's perfect. I'm sure you could layer more if you wanted more shine to it. I used barebones in the fender wells as I still have it and like it.

CG Bare Bones is essentially Blue Guard, only difference is, CG Bare Bones has more of a glossing agent to it, and less durable.

If you like the shiney armor-all type of look, go with Bare Bones.

If you like a durable matte finish, go with Blue Guard II. Blue Guard II can also be used on tires but it is a little too greasy for my tastes, would not like what it would do for traction vs. say an actual tire gel that is not oil based and dries to the touch immediately.

Another alternative which I'm glad John from Lethal brought up is Perl from Car Pro. $15 for 500mL but lasts about 3-4 months. Gives about the same matte finish as BG2.
