I stumbled across the June issue of MM&FF and apparently they have done some testing with the much anticipated piece.

From what I can gather, it appears they gained 27rwhp with the following mods:

Comp Thumpr TH265LL cams w/ limiters
BBK LT's
C&L Racer (95mm)
Flowmaster mufflers
Stock TB
Custom tune

The baseline for this car with these mods was 341/317, AT on a Mustang Dyno.

After the intake was installed, the final numbers were 368/315.

They gained an extra 4hp by switching to a Whipple Monoblade TB bringing the total to 372.

In-house testing on a stock GT gained 15-17hp.

The "catch" obviously is MM&FF. I know some were calling BS after the Livernois results not too long ago, so take it at face value I guess. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.

This mod definitely has my attention though. :popcorneat:

I'm lost. Of course a stock car will show lower gains then a modified one, or is there something else I'm not reading correctly?

The car did not have delete plates installed beforehand, so this means that you cannot use the results to see how much a large change in intake manifold design on a heavily modded n/a 3v will effect HP.

You can make some inference, delete plates are worth ~5+ rwhp, so it's safe to assume that the intake on that car was worth ~20 beyond the plates. Not as clean cut though, I agree.

That still puts the gains around where most expected them to be for these mods. The consensus was that ported heads and bigger cams would really wake it up, from a N/A point of view at least.

I think it's worth it. We pay over 1K for headers which yield similar results and get better with more mods.

The lower portion of the runners act as delete plates so you also have to include that when considering the pricing too.

Overall, the throttle body is a pricey upgrade for such minimal gains, but it does match the intake manifold nicely for those who prefer everything to look neat under the hood. Adding the t.b. during those tests also smoothed out the curve.

I think it will take a few hours less to install. :beerchug2:

No shit, intake swaps on these cars are cake... I think I replaced my CMCV plates in 30 minutes, and that was with spending 5+ minutes just looking for the right torx.

The test car didn't have a set of ported heads either which could of netted better results ? The key is when the average Joe bolts this on and we get some real numbers in the way of N/A stock or with some minor bolt on's then on a F/I car then finally on a fully built N/A car with Stage two or three heads, long tubes and stage three cams we will really see what the C@l manifold is made of , but it looks promising of the early results that this is a 20-30 hp bolt on !

If I read the article correctly, it also included the Dyno Graph for the totally stock motor that C&L did its testing on. While the damn thing was too small for me to read this morning, it appeared that the stock motor picked up 10-15RWHP with the Intake.

I know that, I was trying to say that before the c&l intake manifold was put on that car, the car STILL had charge motion control valves in place.

The C&L gets rid of the plates right? But removing the plates does NOT count as a gain from the C&L Manifold's different design.

The only valid way to assess the gains from the C&L Manifold's design alone is to remove the butterfly valves from the charge motion plates before installing the C&L Manifold. Now you dyno the car, then put the C&L Manifold on, and dyno it again. There you have your C&L Manifold gains.

I see your point ! with the stock plates on you'll just see 5 hp gain on the intake on a stock motor
