I orderd a set of steeda underdrive pulleys no too long ago, and today i read on another forum that you need to get a new crankshaft bolt or something. Do i really need to purchase a new crank shaft bolt?? and from where?? and what kind?? I thought pulleys came with one?? sorry if the question seems dumb, i just wana get informed before i go and install them.

If I remember correctly (did my udp install about 4 years ago), the steeda pullies come with a new Crank bolt & a longer bolt, just to get the pully started on the crank enough for the new Crank bolt to catch.

PLEEESE dont forget to use the supplied washer, when puting the new pully on, or you will be sorry. Like me & Bigwilly43729

You can order a new crankshaft bolt from your Ford dealer. I got one from Tousley Ford for like $7 or something like that. I guess you don't have to use a new one, but I certainly would.

Obviously, if Steeda gave you a new one, then just use that one.

So you just use the long bolt to seat the pulley in or something, then put in the stock crank bolt??

I got mixed opinions as to whether the crank bolt was a TTY bolt or not. I used an ARP bolt as I doubt this will be the last time the crank bolt comes off the car and not getting a clear answer on whether it was a TTY bolt. Also, you can use a harmonic balancer install tool rather than the longer bolt method. I used the install tool and fully seated the damper before putting the new crank bolt in.
