Finally got back to the car
Got the 170 T Stat in and all the painted parts installed

car still runs 230 Head temp with the air on
Started to look at temps on components with a laser heat reading gun

Funny the gun will show 193 on the tstat housing and about the same on the bottom rad hose, Valve covers show like 203
Areo Force still reads 230 Head temp

Going to let it cool over nite
Will pick locations to log with the laser gun, and try to validate that the heat isnt really at 230

Im not running a restrictor, Journal Bearing turbo

out of curiosity why would you not run an oil restrictor? is there an internal restrictor? (seen those on some saab turbos before).

every journal bearing turbo I have had on previous cars needs one to restrict oil to the correct pressure or you will blow out the seals in no time and it will smoke very badly.

you were mentioning earlier that it was smoking so you were looking into the PCV, but if the turbo is supposed to have a oil restrictor on it than you might want to start there first as you could cause serious damage.

Smoke was caused by pinched breather line from PVC to catch can
Crankcase couldnt release pressure fat enough
Im sure the Comp turbo calls out no restrictor in their documentation
Its been a while Ill have to double check

it is possible that if you are using a small feed line than the line itself may provide enough of a restriction so you do not need a seperate restrictor. If you know the exact model of the turbo I can look it up pretty quickly on google or on the comp turbo site.

Ran it cause I think the turbo was getting to much oil and was smoking.

70/70mm billet wheel comp.

Cool
I was only aware of the ball bearing turbos needing a restrictor
My Journal bearing need full oil pressure not to exceed 50lbs

I would call comp turbo just to make sure.

You can ruin your turbo pretty quickly if you have too much pressure.

found another thread regarding the turbo (and a guy having smoking issues with a .080 restrictor but on a 2v mustang) and a couple people mention they are running 0.065 restrictors with this turbo.

I was running a .065" restrictor on it.

It cant hurt to call and ask. It should be fairly simple/straightforward to install if needed.

Cars running good
temps are realistic

Lito has the tune almost dialed in
Fricken EBC went out AGHHH Need to find out whats going on with that

But glad the car is running good
Pulls hard and is fun to drive

Oh I have a gauge for oil pressure on the feed to the turbo , it never goes over 45

Thanks Lito
