Radiator cover needed?

Looking for advice on radiator cover - does it serve a function, or is it purely for cosmetic purpose? I am thinking of some custom engine bay dress up ideas and just might delete the OEM cover if it serves no cooling function.

Looking to customize the upper radiator braces, some painting, and other emblem type additions. I already added the forward cover from American Car Craft but don’t want to overdo the polished look.

Are you talking about the sight shield? It may affect airflow to radiator if removed. Probably not enough to notice.

Thanks folks. Looks like I keep my cover / sight shield.

I have been looking for a Stainless or brushed aluminum one for my 06. Haven't found any manufactured ones. I don't want the stick on to my plastic. Anybody seen one ?

American Car Craft has a polished one but only covers the front panel fender to fender. I just installed that and I like it. I don’t think they currently sell the radiator cover. I’m thinking of trimming and painting my plastic OEM cover to fit with the new polished piece.

Easiest way to look at it is the manufacturer put it there for a reason. Is it a viable reason? Not always. But yes it can hurt airflow to some extent if removed.

I don't have any anecdotal evidence but I know the cover, and especially the bottom pan, helps direct airflow through the radiator as opposed to around it. Will your car overheat with it off? I don't think so. will it run a little hotter? Most likely.

Just get the extensions and paint it. I first had it color matched Satin Silver. But later changed it to a gloss black. You can add whatever graphics you want. I went simple.

I really like that glossed black look. Do you recall where the decal / emblem came from? Looks sharp!
